Yes. I learn from listening to other people's opinions, even if I disagree. A person doesn't necessarily have be a public figure to have interesting perspectives. Plus, they often point me in directions to investigate further.

Mainstream media is little more than blathering opinion by pontificating blowhards, and people still read or listen to that garbage. You'll never learn anything new there.

Yeah, sure you may not think they're right but it is important to see where people are coming from and try to understand their point of view, even if you don't agree with it.

I always do, but that doesn't mean I take them for granted, I listen to everything and make my own judgement with the newly acquired information. Some people take it for granted, others simply seek for echo-chambers and pretty much have their minds already made up (which makes the whole asking for advice quite useless)
