I would only do it if I was short of money and the house was selling for a lot less than it was valued.

Otherwise I wouldn't, the area itself will probably be pretty average, and the capital gains you get when it comes to sell probably won't be that much.

I also probably wouldn't feel comfortable growing fruit and veggies.

It would depend on a lot of things:
My age for one. I'm not having kids, so no thoughts about that.
Air quality, water quality, soil testing
A few more I can't think of at the moment, and "how freakishly cheap"?
I'd make sure I have top of the line protective suit in case of an accident !

Already live within 10 miles of 2 nuclear power stations and another around 30 miles away nuclear had killed less people than fossil fuels has so yes I definitely would

10 miles away or a thousand miles away, if it blows its gonna cause you problems. one study after chernobyl showed that those that illegally returned to live in their homes in the surrounding forrest had a higher mortality than those that evaquated and never went back. great question though and fortunately my place cost peanuts and is no where near a nulear reactor ;)

I might if it was an old fashioned Magnox reactor as they are relatively safe. Not so sure about PWR's, and any other types that are unproven.

Overall, I don't think I would.

I would be wary of one thing only... where would my water come from? and food as well (soil)

as long as they do not come from the 10 mile radius within the plant, I would not be so worried

Yes, As long as the area is deemed safe tested against radiation and there isn't tornadoes, earthquakes, etc... known in that area.

A modern nuclear reactor is a no but a witch burial ground is a hell yes. But I would walk my house closer to the witch burial ground.

Yes, as long as it wasn't in an area prone to Natural Disasters. Nuclear Power can be safe, but in certain areas they are dangerous. Nuclear Power is needed to fight Climate Change.
