Do people even care about solving the homeless crisis?

Conservatives say they should juts get over it and work even though they actively support legislation that makes it harder for them to do so and liberals claim they want to help but "not in my neighborhood". Be honest, does anyone care about actually solving the issue or they just don't want to see it?

I'm not sure you really pay attention to what conservatives or liberals have said to you. So I'm supposed to believe you're going to pay attention to what people say here?

Homeless are for basically 4 reasons and so no single solution will solve all four.

1. Mental issues. In the past these people were held in institutions where they received food shelter clothes medicine and psychological treatment. Thanks to liberals they thought it wad cruel and turned them out to the streets. These people are not capable of caring for themselves. So im not sure there are any options besides institutions and homeless.

2. Drug addicts. Best thing is prevention. I agree with drugs being illegal. I think some serious reform needs to happen but buying drugs legally will create more addicts. Alcohol being legal does not stop some homeless due to alcoholism and neither will it with other substances. I think mandatory rehab instead of jail is the general way to go.

3. The lazy. Some people just dont want to work or change their situation. They dont want a job or want to do what it takes to get and keep a job. These people should be the target of vagrant laws. They need to be forced to change their situation by getting a job or going to jail. That being said of course there should be assistance to help people get jobs.

4. Live free people. They specifically do not want a home. They want to backpack everywhere and live in national forests and couch surf and such. I dont think there is anything that can be or should be done in regards to these people.

Ok im very conservative generally and i also listed them in the order of the biggest problem to least. Hope that enlightens you.

I doubt that yo will give this idea much credence, but there have been homeless people for millenia and many of them PREFER their lifestyle.

Most of the homeless are mentally ill and it was liberals who insisted on releasing hordes of people from mental institutions in the 1960's and 1970's.

Of course people care about solving homelessness. It's a lot more complex than people just not having a place to live.

Saying the issue is complex isn't an excuse for inaction. There's almost no effort directed to solving these complex issues

I guess it depends on where you live. Here there are lots of programs in place to help the homeless, but there are obstacles to helping people. Addiction is one of the largest obstacles.

The function of our government these days is help consolidate more and more wealth in the hands of its true constituents - the wealthy. It doesn't give one fuck about the citizens. So until the wealthy can find a way to profit from eliminating homelessness, nothing will be done about it.

You're moving the goalpost. At first it's "conservatives say 'get over it' and active make it harder for homeless people". Now you're implying they don't actively make it easier on them.

My remark regarded what you said, your response regarded nothing you said.

But if you must know, conservatives donate to charities, many fighting homelessness, tremendously more often than liberals do ( www.beliefnet.com/.../...ves-give-more-to-cha.html ). We also advocate for less taxation (of which many, of not most of which, is poorly used), which would otherwise be in the hands of those who struggle to financially sustain themselves. And these are just things off the top of my head. I'm sure you could Google search plenty of other things.

Are you a fucking idiot. I literally addressed how liberals fail to solve this issue. They try with half assed and misguided policy while conservatives essentially do nothing. Both groups fail to address it. Cry about how Dems can't solve it all you want, I'll agree, but don't act like one side is getting shit done when they absolutely aren't.
