I mean I would get short term issues, stay at YMCA- get a shit job and rebuild yourself.

Mostly mental illness and dug addiction.
Why is healthcare so expensive? It should be free.
why are drugs so carelessly given? More importantly why are they being passed around? There’s a van that parks itself in homeless areas and gives out pills for free. Why?
it is a very small percent of people who become homeless who have perfect mental health and no addiction. The majority of them have one or the other or both.
greedy people at the top will never let healthcare and education be free. It’s a scam. At least in the United States it is.
if it’s for cosmetic reasons then sure make people pay for wanting to look better. But when they NEED mental help, it should be free. When they need help because a disability is preventing them from working, it should be free.
Education should be free for the first profession you choose. After that if you wanna stuffy a bunch of different other things, then sure charge for it, but the initial profession should be free.
most people can’t even afford community college. It’s ridiculous.
I don't know about America but in the UK minium wage won't cover the rent in some areas. Even of you have a good job if you live in parts of the south you'll have to flat share.
If you fall through the cracks it can be hard to get back up because no one wants to employ someone without a fixed address
I used to work at a gas station a few years back and recently started working there again as my second job so I can get a new car. I've met and seen more homeless people on a regular basis than most people. I'd say about 80% are just drug addicts that don't want to get their shit together. On meth, heroin, fentanyl, etc. 10% are just crazy and should be wards if the state, and the last 10% are either drunk bums or normal people who are down on their luck and can't get their shit together.
They stopped taking people to jail here for possession of small amounts of hard drugs. It's no longer a felony. They just write them a ticket that never gets paid. The cops here don't even bother with the homeless junkies and tweakers unless they are being a problem, so it's basically legal already. All the dope fiend bums come here from all over the country because they know they can survive the winter outside. They also know they won't go to jail for being a dope fiend. The homeless population here has doubled since possession of hard drugs is no longer a felony. Some tweaker can get multiple possession tickets before the judge will lock them up because the jails are full and the district attorneys are soft on crime.
because in the eyes of the government, without a support system besides the government, those people will end up in jail anyway. mental health is not a big issue for them even though we pay trillions? to make it better? how? where did that money go?
didn't biden actually use taxpayer money to support buying new crack pipes to give them out? I don't know, maybe that was fake news?

Have you ever tried to live in CA? The cost of basics is beyond the elderly and disabled SSI checks there now.
Why should people be forced to move? Prices shouldn't be able to be risen say for 5 gallon water bottles $5.99 spring last year to now $8.99. Each. That's just one item. Insanity.
I would like to say, it is harder to dig yourself out of debt than it is to fall into it.
An example: Jobs need interviews, how do you get to an interview without money for any & all transportation? Also you can’t exactly sign up for multiple job applications when you got no transport also no education / prior experience to build up the ability to do so. It is about perspective, put yourself in their shoes…. It is tough.
Because when people are mentally ill and their brain is in fight, flight or escapism modes, they don't think rationally and logically. Life feels too overwhelming and they don't have the scaffolding in place to take manageable steps to get back on their feet. People make most of their decisions based on how they feel, not reason.
Many homeless people are veterans, which show us how well the VA takes care of it's own...
I had a friend who was homeless. He was a drug addict with mental health issues. He worked construction and made enough money to live on his own. The problem was, every time he got paid, he'd go on a crack binge until he had nothing left. Sadly, he ended up taking his own life.
Now, this is only the story of one person, but I imagine there are many similar stories out there, and many that are different. There's no easy answer.
There are homeless people for the most part many have made to many bad decisions in life. You have to remember taking drugs is a choice you make all on your own.
Some people are homeless by misfortune. Others are homeless because they don’t fit in and enjoy the lifestyle.
Others are still fighting a war in their head. That they had no part in starting it.
When the country you are a citizen of. Turns its back on you for law breakers from who knows where. Most don’t have a choice. But to live wherever.
It's not that simple. You genuinely can't get a job without an address. So you aren't getting a job to afford a residence without having one. If you're mentally incapable and the support for such people is not there, you can't get a place to live. If you're a violent criminal, you probably can't find a job. If you're a veteran, you probably don't have adequate funds to get off the streets. You drastically misunderstand the problem of homelessness. Try living with them for a while.
if you watch reports on these people, many are mentally ill. Unless they are a phyiscal threat to themselves or others, they can't be forced into treatment, so they go untreated.
There are also many people addicted to drugs and alcohol who can't function in society - hold down a job, keep up an apartment, etc.
Some just don't want to live by society's rules.
Finally, there are some who are just down on their luck.
bad decisions, bad luck, lack of support, emotional problems, worn out physically or mentally.
whose gonna hire them such that they can afford a place to live?
Crazy democrats don't let the cops do their jobs. In the old days the cops would not let them camp out on rhe sidewalk or in public parks. They would be doing 30 days in the county jail. That would be incentive to get a job.
@OddBeMe because your country thinks sending money to other countries is more important
Mental illness, addiction, dysfunctional families, etc. With a very small portion of people who are just weird and kinda dig it. Met some of them, they're really cool.
It may seem simple to you, but that's why you're not homeless.
Corporate greed which has put rents, let alone home ownership out of the reach of a good many Californians.(And other Americans.)
Are you not aware of mental illness and how even in countries where all you have to do is sign a paper to get help.. people still don't do it?
How out of touch are you?
@1073sucks ^^ yep. Gavin can't do shit about that in my opinion.
cause homes cost money and not everyone makes money.
well by not having a job xD it's quite easy not to make money.
cause it doesn't involve doing anything.
Why be you, who goes there, I mean why are you even a reality, your very sheltered aren't you was you raise like princess?
I was leaving yours sorry 😐 I'm back now...
Why is he doing that? is the Chinese president visiting again?
Most of them are substances abusers and have criminal records and can't get housing.
Some want to be. Others are helpless.
Bad luck. That's my sit.
No work.
because they have no homes
Being homeless is a feature of capitalism.
Also, the government in the United States spends tremendous amount of monies on defense which is really not defense but is simply socialism for large corporations that make weapons and other goods for the armed forces. The US spends literally a trillion dollars a year on this. That is not counting the so-called black budget which is all the money they spend on it that they don't tell us about. Probably a trillion and a half dollars or perhaps even 2 trillion.
Overpopulation and undersupply of jobs
Everything automated, thank fuck I saw it coming and employed myself in 2006
The amount who didn't says otherwise
Hopefully a global government system will solve that with a cull and some mulching
ask them
