+1 yPeople can be homeless for a variety of reasons. Some prefer to live without all the responsibility of owning a house. Some are lazy. Some have mental illnesses. Some have physical illnesses. Some have a long criminal record, etc.

+1 yI don’t think so. I think it’s a lot of different factors, being an orphan, untreated mental illness, medical debt, poor education, lack of opportunities, and no social safetynet

Asker+1 yMedical debt? But police dont like catch them even if they are in medical debt?
- +1 y
Police brutalize homeless people all the time. Like look how they treat people who have addresses and jobs and registration papers n shit. There’s cases where police have gone into homeless communities and basically just harass and steal/break peoples shit
Asker+1 yWtf and they are so called police?
- +1 y
I just call them Highwaymen and thugs. I’ve seen too many videos of people above and beyond complying and crying for their lives, only to be shot with their hands behind their back on the ground to trust them at all. Oh I got pulled over for my out taillight, am I going to get a warning? A $50-500 ticket? Are they going to search me and my vehicle? Oh wait, it’s for going 76 in a 75? 🤷♂️ Meanwhile in the time it took me to type this, Jeff Bezos has made a few million dollars. Somehow that’s just totally fine

+1 yI had became homeless after my father loss his fight from Stage 4 Lung cancer and bladder cance. After my father has passed away my own biological brother who is now currently 40 years old and I am 32 years old. Which he just lost his mind. And We had move back into the house which is under signed first by my father on the house 's forms and House Deeds is first by my father then my mother who is still alive... Yet it was hell while live there with him and our biological mother back on Stepmber 13, 2018. I had called the police for help for legit protection due to my brother had went and just ran after my as I was trying to safely and could get my dog's leash and collar on her. So the point is the I be came homeless by my own biological brother who has we were growing up as sidling telling "he would always take care of me because that what is why I am the older one " then I now have lost all contacts to my 3 amazing and funny silly & smart nieces and 2 smart , silly and risk taking like in skateboarding. My mom and I had became homeless like not even 3 days from when I had been to by the police that I was not going to get any charges towards but I will not be along which any park of even the sidewalk. Which I was depressed because my father passed and never knew how his own biological first born Croatian son would have treated his own family. And also my father special beautiful just engraved with a nice wood box and he's inside of it & still is in hostage by my brother ; My own mother actually paid everything for my. father's service not even any the brother. So I never picked at all to be homeless since it just happened to family things life-changing and also I'm just glad I have other family that owns places where I can rent at least have a safe place to have food and stuff but no not everybody in any city is really lazy it's pretty sad that I ended up trying to get up to where I was going to live just because it look like I was homeless person I mean I was I was trying to get to the station this man in a suit trying to asking him how to find a train station and he yelled get away from me woman ! I will the cops and never ask him for no stupid money which him to get the police to actually show up and then I just told them the truth all because I had a suitcase which was funny cuz what if I got it to catch a flight out of Chicago. It all because I was close to a homeless shelter and I even just tried to heading up to meet a friend help me out not even ask no in help no money at all cuz I had enough money at time to get myself something to eat.

+1 yLaziness can certainly lead to homelessness but there's a lot of work to being homeless you know finding food, staying warm, finding shelter, getting basic medicare, not get stabbed or shot or raped. I was homeless for a while at age 18 after my mother died of cancer. Had to join the army but the YMCA was helpful.
There's more homeless now than ever and many people are on the verge of homelessness, it's the perfect storm right now with looming recession, inflation, joblessness, mortgages, ilegal emigration, personal debt, cost of medical care, oil/gas shortage etc. People are still trying to recover after the covid crisis.
I read somewhere that most Americans have little or no savings and have huge debts so if a crisis happened such as job loss or a major illness etc they could end up on the street. I mean you see why so many are fleeing California for texas, nevada or colorado and why African Americans are moving to southern states.
I will never be homeless again, I've made sure. I'm a major prepper. If I ever was again I'd just move into the forest or wilderness and survive foraging hunting and fishing.

Many people aren't aware how close they are to living on the streets. I've been very close to it.

@Jenny-Marie I advise you to start looking into prepping.

A lot of them are homeless because of alcohol and drugs but most people that are on alcohol and drugs they say are trying to numb themselves not to feel but people don't understand is that they are a part of the universe they are one with the universe they don't judge people they don't have drama they believe in their God they believe that they should be free something that we are all supposed to experience and be a part of we all need to become one they just did it because of either alcohol or drugs probably but it goes way deeper I mean they are some of the smartest people on this planet the IQ of a homeless person is probably higher than a lot of people that have real jobs they're just going about it the wrong way because they're addicted or either alcohol or drugs but they have a knowledge get a lot of people don't have and for sure it's different for each one of them they all have a story but if you ever sat down and talked to the homeless you would understand who they really are they bad bad luck they've had good luck they're running from things they're hiding from things they want that freedom they don't want that freedom some of them are lazy some of them do want to work it's just like the real world we're all individuals we all have thoughts and feelings and it is what it is if I see someone standing on the street corner and they're hungry I might go to McDonald's and pick them up something to eat or I might just hand them a couple bucks but they're human just like us and we're all meant to be one with the universe with each other so it is what it is I don't judge them
00 Reply3.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Nope. It's often family issues if anything. My mother was homeless when she was young but she has worked since 13 wouldn't really call that lazy lol.
And why homeless? Issues within the family.
If you have a family that cares you aren't gonna turn up homeless because there would be a place to live at until you can get on your feet.
My grandma on my dad's side well she ain't very caring so she will probably let me be homeless saying you need to find your own way rubbish. But my dad nor mother would let me be so.
Also if we want to talk about substance abuse that often is due to family issues. And again if you had a good family they would try to get you rehabbed therefore you again would not be homeless.
So basically the way it works you aren't gonna be homeless unless you have no family or family issues.00 Reply
Anonymous(18-24)+1 yHomeless people who are mentally ill put them in mental institutions where they are well-cared for.
Physically ill put them in hospitals or homes where they are well-cared for until they get better, or for the rest of their lives if they're not going to get better.
Drug addicts, alcoholics, etc. put them in rehab centers, hospitals, wherever until they are better or confined if they will not get better.
Normal people who are lazy give them what they need as long as they work 40 hours a week. Otherwise they get nothing and are not allowed to mess up the rest of our lives by destroying our public places with their filth.
No one is willing to do any of these things.

All solutions have a cost. With particular reference to alcohol and drug dependence, they have to admit to the problem and admit they need help. They usually get to rock bottom for that, then people are unwilling to help what they consider is self inflicted.

+1 yNo, working is easier than being homeless. 50% have brain injuries according to research and many are escaping domestic violence or pimp hostage situations or drug addictions or mental illness. Some became drug addicts against their Will by pimps who forced them to become users.
00 Reply Variety of reasons, ranging from broken homes, drug dependency, bad luck to their choice. I knew a guy who lived on the streets but had a beautiful home, still had a business and he showed me his bank balance at an ATM. £640,000 in his bank. He just liked the freedom of it all.

+1 yWell homeless are people still normally it's due to bad situation where they don't have money and it's not simple to just get a job and if your older it's very hard to get a job for example I have read people that have been too 100 interviews still don't we are so lucky to have a house food heat comfort which homeless don't have nothing too do with lazy at all sad

+1 ythere's a homeless guy in my city collects massive amounts of garbage he hides away behind buildings and pulls them around in shopping carts. Once in awhile these simp virtue signalling white knights post YouTube videos of them giving the guy money or taking him to the store to buy stuff.
The guy is a PHD former professor who went over the edge and has a significant bank account. Many if these homeless have mental issues and governments have closed all the mental wards.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yDo you know who makes up a ton of the homeless population? Veterans. Our soldiers. Another huge chunk are addicts. The ones that are soldiers are absolutely not lazy, and our country failed them. The ones that are addicts i have no respect for.
00 ReplySome yes.
Some bad situations that set them up for failure.
Some bad decisions in life
10 ReplyMost of the ones I see are either temporarily displaced or, more commonly, clearly mentally ill. I do not see either of those groups as lazy. But yes, there is a percentage that is lazy.
