Why do americans hate lazy and homeless people?

Americans don't hate lazy or homeless people. They hate people that make life difficult for others, trash areas, and make them more dangerous or obnoxious.

For example, some homeless camps are full of drugs and felons hiding from the law. Many homeless go to the bathroom on people's front porches and sidewalks. That's an awful habit and a hazard. On top of that they may leave used needles and drug baggies everywhere. Beggars will block walkways. They will even fall asleep in people's doorways so they cannot get in or out of their own homes. There's no real excuse for this. Being homeless doesn't magically make people drug addicts with bad behavior and bad hygiene. Those issues are likely how they became homeless.

Good homeless people are generally in shelters and working to fix their lives. The ones that make people angry are the ones not even allowed into shelters, because they are too dangerous and don't care who they hurt or what they destroy...

As for lazy people, if someone wants to own nothing and do nothign their whole life, then it's not my business. When they start ranting that they are only broke because those who work hard and sacrifice won't pay for them... that makes me angry. They are getting exactly what they worked for, and the rest of us are getting what we worked for. If they want what we have, they can suffer, struggle, sacrifice, and go through the same hell to get it or they can get lost.

I don't mean people on welfare who need a leg up either. I mean people ranting and attacking people online for having more than them while doing nothing to solve their own problems. They are some of the worst. They have options for places to migrate to where they can happily pay 50-95% of their wages for taxes. But, they'd rather do nothing, blame everyone else for the fact that they do nothing to fix their lives, and try to steal from others.

The assumption is they're lazy and they simply don't want to work. And they're not always wrong about that. But that's the thing they're not always right either.

Ever hear the term "American exceptionalism". It's the belief that America is as blessed (wealthy and powerful) as we are because we work harder than any other country. There actually is a lot of data to support this notion like it or not. But there's also the reality that we largely controlled the last century, definitely the last half of the last century. Because the main powers of the world "largely Europe" for the last 500 years. We're all smashed by WW2. As a result the United States economy was the only game in town. We grew strong and powerful because basically everyone had to do business with us to get back on their feet. We've been coasted on that for a while.

This is a very competitive country where only the strong survive. But I'm also proud of the fact this country is as charitable as it is. There has been no single country that was a greater force for good in mankind's history. And the world better pray that America never falls.

Because Americans think that if somebody is not working themselves to the bone, that means that they are simply lazy and worthless. Or perhaps they are thieves stealing things from other good, hard-working Americans. It is this attitude that is insured that the US is a paradise only for corporate interests.

I have no guilt, but i do have mercy. I am also aware of the many things that churches do to help the poor. I probably have a more informed perspective on that.

Those are not necessarily the same people. Homelessness happens to working people too. Many housed working people are lazy.

I grew up poor and i worked hard to get through college, get a good job. buy a house and raise a family. America is a great country if you want to work hard. If you are lazy you should move to a communist country where everyone gets the same whether they work hard or not, everyone except the leaders that is.

You grew up a long time ago when what you did was possible. Without minimizing what you did, I will remind you that things have changed very significantly and what you did is no longer possible for most people. Moreover, not everybody is you and what you did is a bit extraordinary and it's something that most people could not accomplish at any point. Therefore, you're comparison of your own experiences as a metric to judge other people is manifestly unfair.

@msc545 I think things are easier today not harder. There are programs today where you can get assistance with college. At the college I teach there are programs for inner city kids, single mothers, students with disabilities and other programs. All the student needs is a desire to work hard. I will be the first one to say haw hard it was. I was literally one semester away from getting kicked out. I refused to quit and when I had problems I refused to quit and figured out a way to get around the problem. Kids today want everything done for them. Then they expect the government to pay for it.

I have sympathy for homeless people because struggle exists and I'm well set a of it but there's just some people that don't want to help themselves and those are the people that 're struggling for a reason and need it to help them grow.
