You’re both right and wrong, and you have your knowledge of the constitution/federal power a little inaccurate.

First, the fact the the word “United” is still in the title of the United States is laughable. We are anything but United. We are essentially 2 groups of tribalized people completely unwilling to compromise or even talk with the other. Both sides, red states and blue states alike, are guilty of this.

Second, we are not on the brink of a civil war. Texas and other states have the right to pass laws that affect their territories, as long as it doesn’t violate the constitution, specifically the 10th amendment.

Texas did not say “we don’t like your abortion bill” because there is no abortion bill. The right to an abortion was established via Supreme Court case, but it was never codified into law. Because of this, states have the ability to challenge abortion rights by passing their own laws, which they have.

This does not mean we’re heading to civil war. What this means is that the Supreme Court, a federal entity, will change the national standard. States can then choose to allow or outlaw abortion.

The days of the south rising again and secession are over. Secession attempts and initiatives have occurred in both sides, and laws and courts have shot them down. Examples include both “Texit” and “Calexit,” from Texas and California respectively when elections didn’t go their way.

Your entire country would rely on the industries and tax dollars within 2 states: Florida and Texas. States like Mississippi, Kentucky, Alabama, West Virginia, are all extremely rural states, ranking incredibly low in everything from education to infrastructure. Instead of rich and populous states like New York, California, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, etc supporting them, they’d have to rely on themselves or your new federal government. Those states know that wouldn’t work out well. Exhibit A: look at Kentucky begging for disaster money from the federal government after tornadoes.

Civil War and secession is nothing more than a pipe dream for the south. That said, there is no doubt that we are not United as a people, or a country, and with coming economic calamities ranging from the population crisis, retirement crisis, and the student loan crisis, the future of the United States is not pretty.

There has always been disagreements between states and federal government. When Row Vs Wade was first enacted there was disagreements and those who believed against Row Vs Wade went about trying to change it legally as they are supposed to. No where in the constitution doe sit give rights to abortion. This is what the Supreme Courts are looking at right now and will decide on. Row Vs Wade is unconstitutional.

Lay issues out on the table, some may not agree with it, but everyone's voice should be heard and listened to.
