The point of the Political Compass is to give a more meaningful gauge of political-convictions.
Left & Right can only tell so much. (Likewise, what issues & solutions count as Left/Right enough can vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.) Hence, the dimensions of Authoritarian & Libertarian (enforcing the Left/Right directives be relying more on decrees & brute-force or more by allowing personal freedoms & interests lead the way) were added, as well.
The point is to further divide people.
We are taught to think in binary. Left/Right, Conservative/Liberal, etc.
This has mutated the once rational reasonable Conservative movement into a fruitcake extremist xenophobic belief system.
So now there is no way to be a Conservative if you believe in Abortion, but support gay rights. Or if you are a BLM supporter who believes in Capitalism.
It is either all or nothing.
There are perhaps two ways to be a Conservative. And 217 million ways to be a liberal.
But it shows politics as a spectrum. And reasonable people will always be close to the centre. For example Joe Manchin doesn't know if he's a Democrat or Republican.
@EnglishEuropean I don't get Joe Manchin. He is kind of an anomaly. But the trump party is "purifying" itself. He might want to think twice before joining.
Maybe like you said, these online tests are mostly for fun or something.
I took one just now, for curiosity. It said I lean to the right but moderately I guess...
I am not into politics in general though except for very important cases.
I'm always in the lower left corner of the upper right box lol so just north east of the center.

To be a pseudoscience. Just like personality tests and all the rest like this. Someone said it the best, Political compass is the astrology of politics.
The reasons for this are obvious, the questions are not all very specific and sometimes there not even relevant.
These things are just for the fun of it really. They do not portray accuracy.
Lol one just told me I am a established liberal that thinks joe biden is a good president. When I pretty much hate him as much as trump. Meanwhile Bernie is the one I like. And I know many examples of me not been all that liberal. I am left though so they got the side right shrugs.
But honestly one time on another test it gave me i was a trump fan and right winged so shrugs.
I mean if your talking of America it pretty much just lumps you in as Democrat or Rep as a overall term. You could be a commie or socialist or whatever else but you would still be put into the group of Demo.
Though i get it, it's sorta done that way to try genialise a big enough side for each one. Because well sure you could have a separate party for each one like over here in england we sorta try but evidence shows labour and tory's are basically the only two that get taken seriously and votes above the rest.
So in a way it makes sense but also isn't very good for those who do not fit the description of that party nor is it good at helping people accurately get a represented leader. Nor is it helpful for such tests like this or people's social thoughts on what one may be.
So just overall just a mess much like how politics always is.
Most that I have seen have questions that make libertarian answers seem more reasonable so people feel like being a libertarian is edgy and cool instead of just someone who is tricked into giving more money to the rich.
I suppose the point is that things aren't simply one-dimensional, left-right, but two dimensions isn't much better.
Where does somone who thinks women should be allowed to do whatever they want with their bodies, companies shouldn't be allowed to get away with murder, people should earn their income, not have it given by the state, and the state shouldn't decide who may get married (incest excepted) fall?
Beliefs chat all the time as well as point of views so there is no real point to a political compass test if anything it probably divides people bec people are very tribal and like to be on teams and fight the enemy teams. But i guess its good to see were you are with your beliefs at any given time in your life or whatever

The point is to mislead with bad questions and false dichotomies to trick people into believing that they are left leaning, when a better worded test would probably say they are centrist.
They are crap they just enforce their stands that it's all or nothing in a democracy. A true democracy should have each solution for a problem as option. Not group them with the people group that came up with them.
You're not the brightest if you don't understand political stances are vague things.
You can't ask pin point biases directly.
It’s a concise simplification to get a general idea of where a person is politically and provide some sort of way to compare politicians for instance.
The point is to give people a broad idea of how to categorize their viewpoints. Of course political ideologies are far more complex than these tests suggest, but similar to IQ tests they're usueful in determining big differences.
Good question! Since I understand that you Americans like to register with political parties it's a fair indicator of which party (if any) you want to be affiliated with.
I feel like in your case you already know.
I've done the test before and I'm always in the Libertarian Left quadrant but close to the centre, making my politics Centre Left in the modern parlance.
I take these tests for fun too. As you get older your views will change based on your own lived experiences. They don't mean much other than to illustrate how you ideally see yourself from 50,000 feet up!
It shows where you are standing with your opinions on the various political themes.
I did the test years ago and I scored dead centre, 0,0.
It shows that politics is more circular and that extremes are closer to each other than they are to the center.
That's very true; it's called the Horseshoe Theory.
If you genuinely think Bernie sanders is far left you have no idea what far left means. Bernie sanders is a reformist social democrat, not a socialist like he claims.
Not to mention the right and the left are polar opposites so your claim literally makes no sense. Not to mention Ron Paul is a horribly shitty example of a far righter, someone that’s far right is someone like Lauren southern or Trump.
The left and the right are polar opposites with contradictions meaning they’ll never be the same. The only right wingers that can benefit the left are liberals but that’s only because their spontaneous movements can lead to short term change which can make conditions better but at the end of the day the left and right are fundamentally different.
Saying they’re basically the same just shows your personal lack of understanding of politics
There isn’t a center because centrist are all right wing since they want the system to stay the same meaning they automatically reject core leftist beliefs of progress since they want things to stay the same.
“The white liberals differ from the white conservatives in one way. The liberal is more deceitful, more hypocritical than the conservative. Both want power but the white liberal is the one who has perfected the art of posing as the negros friend and benefactor.”
- Malcolm x
I really don’t believe in center politics since most centrists, especially neo liberals. Do not call for the radical change that’s desperately
needed.
centrists would much rather have change happen through the reforming of our system and I believe that’s because liberals are optimistic In terms of viewing our current systems. They hope they can get better, but the fact is the way things are we can’t have the effective change we want through such methods.
So in the end since they reject progress in this sense they are tools that Inevitably benefit the right as a result by positioning the false idea that extremes on both ends are bad
which in my opinion is a tired take since one extreme wants class conscious unity and to end all forms of bigotry/hatred while the other extreme calls for ethnic genocide and the governmental authoritarian enforcement of their “beliefs”
Saying Horseshoe Theory has been debunked doesn't make it so.
I have my own theories.
Would be interesting to take and I feel im good to land right/libertarian.
And that first chart to me is more accurate because I feel political Ideas are more of a circle than a straight like and this chart reflects that idea.
Never paid much attention to them. I think they provide a kind of confirmation bias to most that take them..
Green is normie territory or dude weed lmao Anything else is respectable.
I'm usually in the red, if my net worth exceeds 1m I change teams to purple

A Christian democrat...
No, the questions aren't vague as I have taken that test. The questions are specific in nature.
The majority of people slight slightly one side or the other of central, anything too far either way is an extremist
I agree. Some of the questions are too vague, while others are too specific.
It is to see what u believe in
Yo where can I take that test?
I have lost my trust in politics of all kinds.
This is mine result
It's just a meme
