China is my favorite country in Asia. They have a long, interesting history and culture, beautiful landscapes and monuments.
Of course, I am not in favor of communism, but keep in mind China has been communist for only a tiny fraction of their history and they are still evolving politically.

@Imsmurter1 I'm not sure why you say that. I've been to 33 countries on 5 of the 7 continents and have traveled over 1 million miles in commercial airplanes, including 3 round-the-world trips. In Asia (the topic of this question), I've been to China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Singapore.

@Cubus the ones I talked to made a distinction between Turkey/Turkish and Europe/Europeans, as in they talked about Europe as something foreign. They're Eurasian but most of their land is in Asia.
From what I noticed, most Turks consider themselves just as Turkish or Mediterranean. Not European, nor Asian, nor Middle Eastern.
But then again, I'm not Turkish, so I can't say for sure.

I know where Iran is as well as Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan all are. Without even looking! I’m interested in Iranian history and the Persian culture. Of course Iran is in the “Middle East” but according to Eurocentric geography the Middle East is still “Asia”. Wasn’t my choice to call all those different places Asia it was the Greek’s choice I think

It’s similar to China I think. I think it’s misrepresented in western media just like China. My parents are from Beijing and in Beijing there is a direct flight to North Korea so it’s not inconvenient for Chinese people to travel.
