What's on your Apocalypse shopping list?

Conserved food to last half a year (2000kcal a day), water for a month (4L a day). Some fancy system to properly collect and filtrate water.
3 First aid kits, 20 ferro rods, an axe, pocket knife, utility knife, 3 whetstones of different granularity.
Enough resources to set up a small garden from scratch (for food). If possible a hand gun with ~500 bullets and a small safe. A plastic bucket to wash things in, a bunch of cheaper clothes that can last two weeks (3 days of wearing at a time). 4 pairs of quality boots in my size. Some handkerchiefs to use as reusable toilet paper. Two tents and two bedrolls. Some soap bottles, cheap 3 in 1 crap that I will add water to. Something like the covert companion from covert instruments to lockpick with. A shovel. 20x 50m of rope. Plastic utensils like a plate, bowl and some cups. Hand operated flashlight. Binoculars. Two duffel bags and two backpacks. A radio would also be useful. I would bring my phone and a solar charged power bank, but not expect much use out of it. Probably download some survival guides to read up on.
That should all be possible within the 10k. I would then rent a car prior to the event to move this all to an abandoned building in the woods, like an old factory. I would use my tools to set up for the long haul, blocking all but one exit permanently and blocking the remainder with physical objects. I would initially dig underground and stay at the exit for when the event begins. My safe would be here. After a month of sitting tight, I would plan to check the roof, starting the garden. From there, I will improvise.
Wow. Impressive.
Here's how I'd spend the cash and what I'd plan to do:

I see you have a lot of yours spent on moving around, communicating and reconnaissance.
I would likely bunker up until things have somewhat calmed down. The first year would be such panic, I would just stay put. Depending on the nature of the apocalypse of course, but humans stab eachother in the back a bit too easily.
You can't hide from people... Give them credit for being as smart as you and smarter. They'll hunt you down if you are a loner. It's better to join up with a prepper group with similar interests and share resources... information, security, and other, necessary things. A lot of people think that they can hide in the sticks... way back in the mountains of some different state. What they fail to realize is that the people who grew up in those areas know it like the back of their hand and they know if someone is trespassing. Many do not like strangers squatting on their land or hunting their game without permission. Even if the land does not officially belong to them. Some of these mountain people have been known to take matters into their own hands and make outsiders disappear. Or, was that the horror movie, "Wrong Turn"? At any rate, if a person is not familiar with their neighbors or their surroundings, they would definitely be making themselves a sitting duck if they plan to play possum for "x" amount of months. One day, they will wake up, strung up upside-down and hog-tied. Some burly, toothless, hillbilly will be sharpening knives and sizing them up like a side of pork.
Haha, by that time I would likely be the toothless hillbilly. I have always had the effect for others not to seek trouble with me, being 6'7 with a commanding voice, but if they are prepared to get me, I will be got. I think that's the better alternative to what panic will bring in an apocalypse.
It still depends on the nature of the event. A massive flood, tornados and earthquakes or nuclear fallout or something like zombies.. All of them will require adaptation. Humans can be more despicable than all of those. The amount of rape alone during the first week of such an event will be enough for me to keep my distance. Unless you fully trust them, no thanks.
I'll wear my chastity belt. thanks.
This chick is not covering anything up for an apocalypse. lol She'd pull you out of your hole! https://www.youtube.com/c/DrHannahStraight/videos

I would buy tinned food and seeds with most of the money and also something to filter and purify water with..
I'd get four women and one man and we'll combine all our stuff together.. When our food resources start to run out, we'll just have to eat the children that the women will be giving birth to until we can find other people who we could eat.
We'll find salt sources which we'll use to salt the majority of our people-food with so that they can last longer.
Obviously other clans of people will have plantations and would be too many for us to overpower.. So we'll just trade them some people-jerky for vegetables.. because vegetables are very important as we do not want to develop scurvy or something like that.
in the end it will become apparent that we'll have to form conglomerations with other clans in order to survive the impending invasion from the North. Never trust the North, I always say.
Now all we need to do is find one of those clans who thought buying weaponry would be a good idea - coz they'd be dead already. Now we'll confiscate the weapons and we'll make explosive devices which we'll use to mount on the backs of our uneaten babies.
These death babies will be used to crawl into small crevices undetected and we'll detonate them, thus ensuring total decimation of any possible threats.
It's a dog eat dog world out there, and we can't allow dogs to eat perfectly good dogs that we could've eaten ourselves.
This happens IRL, so, meh.
@custard83 fun fact: the term circle jerk came from the days people used to trade beef jerky with one another in a circular pattern at gatherings they held underneath a bloodmoon whilst doing their witch rituals... their witchuals
Just one thing. Rope. $10K worth of rope. There will be a cleansing of the remnant of the population. Seeing as it’s the apocalypse there will be no more police, jails, trials, juries or criminal records. There are many things for which justice must be dispensed.
I’ll use all $10K worth of rope to bind the hands of violent gang members, and rapists and thugs and wanton criminals. I’ll string them together in a chain by the neck just like Michonne from Walking Dead did with her zombies.
I will keep their hands bound and pen them up just like the animals they behave like and butcher them one by one in full view of each other. As they die one by one I’ll canibalize them for a food source. I’ll tan their skins to make leather for clothing. I’ll use their fat if there is any left for fuel for fires. I’ll use their bones for primitive tools. I’ll use their scalps to decorate my primitive dwellings. Not one part of their putrid corpses will go to waste.
I’ll repeatedly remind them it was all fun and games being violent criminals while they lived in a free society and had police and courts and criminal justice system that dealt with matters like this, but the tables have turned. Unfortunately there are no jails in which to keep them, no judges, no trials, no parole and I will assume those duties, so they will simply be disposed of as there is no place to house and feed them and they must not be allowed to get away with their evil. They must be held accountable.
Anyone reading this who behaves like a thug and glorifies such a lifestyle, let this be a wake up call to you. You’re only safe from those of us who would despise harsh and severe justice for your evil because of the same police and criminal justice system many of you call racist and hold in such contempt. They keep you safe from those of us who have no tolerance for your vile ways.
I was with you until the cannibalism.. hah
I get a little extreme once in a while lmao!
Hey, this is the apocalypse and the grocery store will be fresh out of cans of Chef Boyardee. Waste not want not right?
LOL... okay...
I already live on my yacht, so I would just set sail and get away from the madness that no doubt would be ensuing on land. I would spend a fair bit of that on a water maker, and supporting solar and battery bank to keep my systems running (estimate around $8K). With the remaining $2K, I would buy a bit of fishing gear, and spend the rest mostly on food.

Probably mostly dried fruits, nuts, beans, rice. Things that would provide the nutrients I can't get from fish, and would also last a long time (dehydrated, dried, sealed, etc). Spices for cooking (I'd just make my own sea salt). I have more or less everything else I need already on my yacht. I'd stock extra on a few items like propane, sunblock, disinfectants/medicines, and soap.
@custard83 I was debating whether or not to spend some of that budget on a rifle and ammo, for the sake of hunting on land now and again while coastal cruising. But $500 buys a lot of beans and rice
Depends what kind of apocalypse.
Nevertheless, I definitely need water filters, non-perishable food, hand-crank light and/or radio, firestarter, durable tent and sleeping bag, larger knife, multitool knife, some tool set, spare durable clothes (stab-proof clothes),...
Solar panel setup the whole thing on that and now if you want to live where there is heat, radios, lights at night, computers so on you need to contribute to my little village lol. I even know some different places to start that are tactically wise positions and have access to water purification plants and running water where a generator could be built.
Most of the list is what usually people would buy food water and safety
But I would buy a sleeping pill 💊 bottle just in case If I need a exit from the existence I am in that would come handy
Yes. An exit plan is important..
Most important actually
When would you make that decision... to exit?
If I am damaged beyond repair physically,
Mentally I can handle any kind of shit
So, with 30 days to get ready and $10,000 in cash, how would you give yourself the best possible chance to survive... as long as you can?
Ok first what kind of end of world will it be, will impact the list a lot
If there are no nukes no radiation Shit then I can go for regular shelter
If there are zombies then shelter option would be different
The thing that would remain same is food and water , obviously food and water you buy won't last forver so if it's radiation then I have to buy plant seeds soils too cut down on other things
If it's zombies and virus is not going through air I would still want a bit of a planting place coz eventually I have to grow food ,.
Protection is simple keep the guns away they will be stone after the ammo rans out I would be more comfortable with resuable weapons short sword is perfect for this
No reload fast action can be re sharper and can be operated in close quarters
As for food and water I would try to get dry food bars and water it would probably last at Max 200 days I assume if I am completely alone
Rest all can be manufactured a big part of survival Is what you can find and how creative you can be with it so after the
Last day on earth goes by
I would go out collect things built things add on things
I'm a apocalypse money will have no value. I'd bring canned goods with long shelf life, water filter, knife, gun with plenty of bullets, flint to make fire on the go. I'd have a car and and have as many gas cans as I can fit to have gas on me at all times can also help start a fire, backpack to carry everything off I'm walking maybe pack sort of light so I can be quick on my feet when I need to be. Pots and pans to cook in eat in utensils to eat with and a armored car to keep zombies out
Money has value during the 30 days that you have to prepare.
Yes but you never know when it will strike
Miss, this is my question, not yours. Please abide by the premise that I have set up.
Oh relax I'm just being honest.
it's true money would have no value... however supplies food and water definitely will
That's what I'm saying. I don't know how that's wrong 😂😂😂
You people don't get it. They apocalypse (whatever it may be) has not happened yet. Business as usual. Money has the same value as usual. You are in a 30 day bubble of "usual". Within those 30 days, you may spend that $10,000 to prepare for the end. After the 30 days, then the floor drops out of society. While most things will cease to matter, like banks and ATMs, money will still have "some" meaning to store owners for about a 48 hours after the crash and the end, so, you may still be able to use it to get some things you want without a shop owner blowing your brains out with a shotgun for stealing from him/her. Now do you understand? Trust me. I am the architect of this question. This is EXACTLY what I intended for this question to mean when "I" posted this question onto Girls Ask Guys' website. There is not room for second guessing. There is not room for debate. This is the premise of "my" question. This is my reality. Capiche? By the way, if there were a category for "Least Helpful", I would pick the lot of you who keep arguing with me about what "my" question actually means. SMDH
FUCK GAG'S AUTO CORRECT
PS - After the end, some annoying people I would shoot on sight... LOL
cause killing is fun huh?
@Still-alive Fun? Necessary in some cases. Taking out the trash and other potential threats in the new world.
Girl your extra as fuck. It's a silly question why you taking it so seriously. Fucking relax
You have been officially reported to corporate for trolling users. Hide my comments all you like. Your day of reckoning is coming.
A big banner saying zombie lives matter. We've got to stamp out the negative discrimination.
Who's going shopping after the apocalypse hits? I wouldn't be spending any money on anything because it would all be up for grabs. First thing I would do is hit the pharmacy. Antibiotics and painkillers are going to be very useful in post-apocalyptic Earth.
Not enaugh money to survive on.
Need to change tactics and become a hunter/bandit.
A 22lr rifle, with 30rnd magazine, suppressed, subsonic ammo. Thermal sights.
Thermal ghilliesuit.
A small all fuel burner with a pressure pump. Ultralight tent and a sleeping bag. 20L assault pack with a 2L camelback. Nightvision goggles.
Book Ultimate Sniper and few military handbooks on homemade explosives and etc.
Forgot to add, a 40w foldable solar panel and few 15mah battery banks. To cover all electrical needs
My currency is bullets and booze and my list is bullets, booze, first aid kits, sacksor dried rice, beans, spam, Vienna sausages, MREs, hardtack, dehydrated potatoes, polenta, dried fruit, jerky, aspirin, rubbing alcohol, loads of water, needle and thread, powdered eggs, tuna, sardines
Weapons, protective gear, vegetable plants and seedlings, cows, chickens, fish, 30 first aid kits, a few warm/cool clothes, tickets to see Harry styles in concert
- 9,999 dollars worth of toilet paper
- a bag of Cheetos, cause I like those
then I'll be able to get a lot more from trading, as the demand goes higher
I’ve been prepping for a years now or so ammo, water , and non perishables
What would you suggest people who haven't a clue do with their free $10,000 in cash to get ready? Assume that they've done NOTHING in their life to prepare for a SHTF scenario. Now, they have just 30 days to get themselves together. Thoughts?
One thing that occurs to me is to use lots of credit to make up any funding gaps for what they need to get. For instance, if they want to buy an RV, they could max out their credit cards to make a down payment... This is assuming that the country as we know it, will definitely fall and no one is coming to collect the debt.
Same goes for heavy equipment / earth movers... so much easier to bury the RV / build a bunker if you don't have to dig by hand.
Id just buy a chainmail suit of armor, body armor, ammo, fertilizer, aluminum powder, and electric capacitors. All I need is an electric fence that will fry anything that touches it, exploding targets, and the chainmail should unlock juggernaut mode 😂
A.45 and ammo.
A 12 gauge shotgun and shells.
Flashlight and batteries.
A crowbar.
A fire ax.
Water
Spare clothes.
Toothbrush
You plan on trying to survive by stealing?
Any apocalypse you like but, won't you get hungry? What about shelters?
So you don't plan on spending your ten grand?
Lots of storable food and a large quantity of drinking water. A propane generator with a big tank of propane. A pump shotgun with lots of ammo. UHF radio. shoes and boots. Warm clothes and a kevlar vest. Batteries, cash,
a semi automatic shotgun, a handgun, a knife, at least 30 days worth of food. a space blanket, warm cloths, camoflauge netting to hide my presence from drones, and a water purifier, gas generator, and fuel.
Solar Panels with inverter and batteries, Dirt bike, Hunting Rifle & lots of ammo, boxes of nails / fasteners, Water purifier, Salt and braided nylon rope. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things, but yeah.
Realist or fantasy?
-fostech origin 12 shotgun with 5x 20 round mags
-couple of flare shotgun rounds
-multi tool knife
-electric lighter
-phone
-mobile solar panel charger
-manual chargeable flash light
-backpack

-drinking bottle
-special military survival food (lasts long, calories)
-water purifying pills
-sterilizing alcool and bandages (to clean wounds)

Antibiotics. As many as possible. Though restricted drug, would have to steal them
Weapons and Gear, first aid, a reliable car and a method to make fuel, the rest would go into learning about everything that would help me survive
Any and everything I can get my hands on for weaponry. Canned goods. Anything to start a fire. Extra blankets and rope. Tools that can help make shelter.
Canned goods. Ammunition. First aid. Camping gear. Heirloom seeds. FYI, only piston helicopters have keys.

Sorry girl... money won't mean shit. Guns and ammo. I live out in the country by the water where it's not very populated
Money will matter in the short-term. Absolutely. For those of you planning on pulling out your gold and silver coins to buy stuff, ask yourself this: How is someone going to know how much one of your gold coins is worth if most of the Internet temporarily goes down? They won't. They will take most of your gold or silver from you for a pack of Twinkies if they take it at all.
Gold is weight like back in the day it was all calculated by weight but even gold won't matter because you can't eat gold.
How many retail owners are going to entertain you as you pull out your scales and perform your monetary value calculations? Even if tey believed you got your math right, how do they know that what you have is real gold? Gold can be exchanged for goods between knowledgable and optimistic individuals.
AND LATER...
However, the real attraction for keeping gold is for after (if it ever does) civilization rights itself and starts to rebuild. Then, again, it would be a gamble that gold would retain its value after a serious fall of world systems. That being the case, it is much more lucrative to hoard things for barter such as weapons such as guns, ammunition. Also fuel, batteries, gadgets, medicine, body soap, fabric, blankets, camping gear, rope, etc
It's the difference of my offering a retail store owner two new UZIs, 4 UZI magazines, and box of one thousand rounds of UZI ammo in exchange for practically anything I wanted in their store (while civilization is falling and their store is being overrun by gangs) versus my offering them $50k worth of gold in 5 gold coins.
1 spacex rocket,
With two months of food supply.
Is cash even valid currency? Does everyone know the apocalypse is coming?
That is the premise for this question. You've got 30 days to prep with ten grand.
No. It's worth exactly what it is right now.
Use your own paranoia and imagination about who would be out to getcha.
HAM radio, dear.
What an odd (Ed Sherran-type) troll you are... Just say: "This question sucks" ... and be done with it. Or, continue asking your pointless questions of my basic question. I will not be commenting any further, buddy. Happy Saturday! *waves*
Only thing I need that I don't have already is a Ruger 10/22 with a 50 round mag and a suppressor.
Animals to breed, water purifier system and guns.
Food, water, batteries, weapons, ammunition
Canned food, water, batteries, ammunition etc
I’ll need more than that for land and a bunker.
Oh well.
Apocalypse seems like the nomadic age lol 😆
What kind of Apocalypse are we talking about?
To buy:
Condoms
Rapists will be hung by their balls in the town square.
Maybe he just plans to sell his ass? 🤔
@cookiecrusher ROFLMAO
