+1 yImagine not being able to feel the same connection to your body as the rest of us. I really don't really see what's wrong with identifying as the gender you weren't assigned at birth. Gender dysphoria is a condition! Trans people aren't just saying "oh yeah I'm a girl now haha" because they want to! It's how they identify and plenty of transgender folks have gone through internalized transphobia.
What's wrong with respecting someone who doesn't identify with the sex they were assigned at birth? By wanting the same rights do you mean having the same protections as other people? Being able to freely express themselves in public just like anyone? EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO BE RESPECTED !!! 🏳️⚧️⚧️🌈
Wanting the world to change for the better and to be more accepting isn't wrong or pushy. Besides, most changes that the lgbtqia+ community is asking for, isn't actually going to affect you! Someone else's sexuality or gender identity doesn't affect you at all! Asking to not be shunned and shamed for something they can't change is all we're asking. Raising awareness about the issues we as a community face, isn't "liberal cray-cray propaganda 🤪".11 Reply- +1 y
Think about it like this, lgbtqia folks are real and we're not going away. Bills in the US are being passed to silence us in schools but in reality, you're just shutting kids off from something that isn't harmful! You're preaching acceptance not teaching kids how to have gay sex or sm. And besides, so many children's shows and films have hetero relationships in big bold letters kissing! How is that not too-adult for little kids? They're kissing on-screen 😒
Sidenote: you said that they're expressing their sexuality but that's not true. Gender and sexuality are two different things. Gender: societal created genders (fem, male, nb). Sexuality: who someone is attracted to (ex: gay, bi, straight). Sex: biologically assigned sexes (male, female).
Double side note: the person who said that about the American flag being replaced with the pride flag was probably joking (I hope!). So many people have died to protect that flag and it represents freedom.

Respect must be earned, not demanded and it takes a lot to own it. When we go out of the norm, or something that is disapproved by the society, we are to be prepared of the judgment which is something that they are not ready to deal with it seems.

I think everyone should have "basic human rights" respect, in the "I'm not going to physically hurt you or attack you" sense. But beyond that, no, you aren't entitled to extra respect just because you believe you are a woman, a man, "non-binary," a duck, or whatever. The same applies to most people though; respect beyond basic human respect is earned, not given.
I won't give "less respect" to a person just because they are trans, regardless how I personally feel about the LGBT Community and its agenda (we can't assume they are all as crazy as the ones we hear on social media). But I definitely won't give MORE respect to someone just for being LGBT, either. And if they're an entitled asshat (like many of them are ("respect my pronouns or you're a bigot and transphobe!"), then they get negative respect from me: Intentional disrespect.
That is all I have to say on it.

I’m all for treating trans with the same respect as other people, but they demand extra rights and that isn’t gunna fly. If they wanna mutilate their bodies and pretend to be the opposite sex then whatever, but don’t go thinking that just because you larp as a girl that society is gunna treat you like one. That is demanding extra rights. I’ll call you what you look like, unless you specifically ask me otherwise POLITELY in which case I’ll make an effort to use your pronouns, but don’t get mad at me for calling a dude a dude. These people are mentally unstable, the last thing I wanna do is make them more uncomfortable, but they have put themselves in a situation where discomfort is a natural consequence

+1 yToday's society is genuinely fucked up. There was a Netflix show that I saw on some social media post called "He's Expecting" that was literally news just yesterday. It's about a man being pregnant. And this was a response to Apple releasing the pregnant man emoji. I hate all this inclusivity, lgbt, feminism, cancel culture crap that's going on today. It's promoting a society of beta men and entitled women.

+1 yWe only 'hear' those who deserve little or no respect.
I'm sure that there are many among them who just live a silent life - being themselves (or what they believe to be themself).
Also: what IS respect actually? In my eyes ''special attention'' is NOT a display of respect.10 Reply 590 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. They should be respected just like any other person. It means not treating them differently from other people just because of their sexuality. If you go out of your way to be mean or an asshole to a transgender person (I mean you in general) then you're being transphobic.

As an interesting side note, the fall of Rome had a lot of gender issue debate and confusion also. It might just be a societal death thro along with declining birth rates, decreasing social mobility and job availablity.
Basically it's just a symptom of society going insane.23 Reply
Opinion Owner+1 yAnother interesting parallel is that the value of Roman Roman money was also going to shit and the lower class couldn't afford homes. Sound familiar?
- +1 y
Their borders were also being over run by people living outside their territory, eroding the value of Roman citizenship.
But nothing like that is happening in America right now.
Opinion Owner+1 yHaha of course not

55 Reply- +1 y
@sirderpsalot the key word in your answer is deserve. Not everyone deserves it.
- +1 y
There are different levels of respect. Basic respect is simply just not going out of your way to be cruel to another human for no apparent reason. I don't respect as in admire a stranger walking past me, but I respect them in the " I won't hurt you" regard. As human beings, most people deserve that.
- +1 y
You're 67? This shouldn't be this difficult for you to understand.
- +1 y
@sirderpsalot123 what does my age have to do with this? I sure as hell am not going to take a class to learn Transgender 101 stuff. It's not that I don't understand this, it's that I don't believe they should be asking for respect. I don't believe everyone automatically deserves respect and it should be earned in MY eyes. That's what you don't seem to understand even at your age!
- +1 y
Well thats a double-edged sword
+1 yYou shouldn't respect or disrespect a person on the basis of them being trans. You should respect them on the basis of them being respectable.

Just a couple of days ago there was a post of someone trying to change our US national flag into a pride flag
- +1 y
I can't remember when this was but they actually tried to make referring to a transgender man as a female a hate crime and vice versa of course but you get the point
- +1 y
If you pay close attention these things actually pop up somewhat often
- +1 y
Okay the US flag thing was actually on this app but that was just an example
- +1 y
As for the weird hate crime debacle I'll look into it but just know I'm not going to remember every single detail from things I remember over a year ago
- +1 y
Oh yeah by the way if you know how I can send screenshots on this app please tell me because this will make things a lot easier
- +1 y
I found something kind of similar but not the same this was like one of the first pages on Google and it's not even for the United States it's for Canada and it is definitely not the thing I was referring to but I'm throwing it out there anyways because it still works for my argument to some degree not a large degree but a small degree and It just fits
- +1 y
Okay so I'm not even on to the second page of Google I haven't found it the exact thing I was looking for but again I found something rather similar I'm guessing things like this just happened frequently or something I don't know but this is about New York and I'm going to throw it in as well you can go look into it yourself I'm just going to give you the link
- +1 y
Yet again not the thing I'm looking for but similar except for this time it's a YouTube video and it is going to be incredibly boring but if you like looking into things like this I don't I find it tedious but if you do feel free I'm giving you yet another link
- +1 y
I don't even know what this one is but it's in California and it may or may not be related I am way too bored by this point but feel free to read it I'm leaving a link
transgenderlawcenter.org/resources/id/ca-sb179 - +1 y
Okay I can't find it anymore everything's about California now and I am not going to look any further
- +1 y
Especially since I hate California
- +1 y
Also this guy actually was trying to convince people that they should change the US flag to be a pride flag not even they had a flag no they were actually trying to change the flag it was stupid right and then he insulted me and then he said I had bad fashion since I don't know it was really confusing it really confused me it was actually on this app I'll go see if I can find it for you it was sad and funny and disturbing that like someone wanted to change the US flag to become a pride flag I don't know why
- +1 y
This was that funny little post about the pride flag US flag thing that I was talking about
- +1 y
Again I'm not saying that the entire left is trying to change the US flag into a pride flag I'm just saying that this right here is a good example of the weird wacky stuff that is just going on over there
- +1 y
Like it almost feels like one of those really old cartoons like the animaniacs except for like stranger and more colorful
- +1 y
@crossdressingrihno I read those laws. They all pretty much say the same thing about non-discrimination and harassment of transgender people. They will apply to employers and places of public accommodation. It mostly comes down to simple courtesy. "Hi, I'm Mr. Smith". Doesn't matter how they are look or sound, it's only polite to call them "Mr. Smith". Why is this so hard?

@SmokinAces2000 so you just give your respect to everyone that's not everyone l or bad, and how do you know if a person is evil or bad? Don't you believe respect should be earned?
- +1 y
I know that someone is bad through actions and to some extent respect should be earned but basic human decency shouldn’t have to be earned
+1 yPretty sure they're talking about Basic human respect

"You know, before I didn't care, but then you kept shoving it down my throat! "
you and everyone else shoves straight people down their throats.. so yeah i guess you can't take your own medicine huh? - +1 y
@Still-alive straight people don't shove being straight down people's throats. You are making that up. I am straight but I don't go around demanding respect for being straight. And I sure as hell would never want to replace the American flag ,🇺🇸 with some flaming pastel rainbow flag that does stand for shit. How dare you and your people be so bold that you can change our American 🇺🇸 because you people think it's boring. You got a lot of nerve, and if I were you, I would keep my mouth shut before someone like my ex-husband beats the holy crap out of you.
- +1 y
"straight people don't shove being straight down people's throats. "
umm yes they do its everywhere around them all the time. and you have folks on the right outright claiming marriage is between man and woman only...
"with some flaming pastel rainbow flag that does stand for shit."
and here you go shoving your shit down their throats... hypocrite much?
oh and threats huh? how unchristian of you :) - +1 y
@Still-alive you just want argue just because you like to argue. As far as me being unchristian, I said it would be my ex-husband that would beat you up not me. Can't you read?
Let's just end this. You are making up things about straight people cause we don't do what you accuse of.
So, good bye Still-alive (for now anyway). - +1 y
lol you can't take it when people call your bullshit out huh? fitting.
