The combination of three factors: sexism, political opportunism, and delusion. Let's tackle the middle one first.
-An issue that comes up, whether it's something that could reasonably be handled through legislation or not, is a chance for elected officials to score pandering points with their base by slamming their opposition. This is why so little progress is made on illegal immigration: our immigration laws suck, but the 545 people who can actually CHANGE them don't. Why? Because actually fixing problems doesn't do as much to get you reelected as claiming that you WANT to make progress, but the other side is either too determined to keep people from getting in, or too determined to throw open the doors to all sorts of criminal scum, depending on which side you're on. A permanent crisis is a permanent source of votes; a solved crisis quickly fades from memory. Transsexual issues are a perfect example. It's also a perfect time, since rising economic issues and the responsibility for them SHOULD, by all rights, see many currently elected officials voted out, if not swinging from gallows, but a distraction saw quite a few of them reelected last year, and will go on to hide many more of their sins.
-Delusion is the sticking point for a lot of people. What is a woman? An adult human female. Okay, what is a female? A member of a sexually reproducing species who has large gametes. In humans, they have XX chromosomes, but that's not the case in every species; the platypus, for example, has TEN sex chromosomes, not two, and they're not Xs, either. Surgically altering body parts doesn't change what you actually ARE; even if prosthetic gonads are developed, that won't change. Nor will your brain, which DOES have some substantial differences between the sexes- and don't match up with the frequent trans claims of "being born into the wrong body". However, a counter question: is that what matters? If a man chooses to live as a woman (or vice versa), what actual harm is done? If he asks to be called "Deborah", be referred to as "she" and wear a dress, who is hurt? No one, for the most part. Oh, there are exceptions- women's sports, for one- but the amount of people directly affected is tiny. This isn't an excuse to ignore their problems, but to find a reasonable solution, rather than banning procedures outright.
But there comes a point where indulging delusions does real harm, and that's when it starts spreading to other people- most notably children, who may not have the capacity to reason their way out of a situation. If, again, this means taking a few social cue, no real harm is done- but when you're talking about lifelong-problem-causing major surgical procedures? That's a very different story. A five-year-old boy can be convinced that he's actually a girl with little difficulty; he can also be easily convinced that he's a tiger, or a triceratops. And if you provide social status or another reward to incentivize claiming "trans" status, you're going to get a LOT of false positives. Is this actually what's happening in modern schools? I don't know. I'm dubious of the claims coming from people who thought Harry Potter was inciting children to devil worship, but equally dubious to claims coming from people who think Dr. Seuss is inciting them to racism.
-Then comes sexism, and for a change, we have BOTH flavors this time: against men, in claiming that their mere presence puts women in danger, and against women, who are assumed (mostly by the people who mock liberals for their perceived fragility) to be SO vulnerable that they endure serious harm due to the proximity of testicles. So you have the Feminists and the traditionalists together at last; putting their bigotries on display, a combination that's less "peanut butter and chocolate" and more "clown shit and bananas", but naturally, they don't see themselves as being bigoted- they never do. Beyond the obvious, they also both object to the idea that the line between the sexes can be crossed; the very hearts of their respective ideologies are threatened by that.
Put all three together, and you have a recipe for hatred.

I don't think its as much about hate as it is about not understanding. A key facet of human nature is that humans are comfortable in surroundings that are similar to their own surroundings and have knee-jerk reactions to aspects that are different and this includes any minority group be it race, sexual orientation, sexual identification etc. Since most people are heterosexual, the introduction of transgender people causes knee-jerk reactions that often manifest as hate and intolerance.
What's unfortunate it that transgenderism has been politically weaponized as opposed to being understood at the basic human level.

very few people "hate" transgenders. It's not hate to believe that encouraging this mutilation of ones body to repair a mental illness is an evil medical practice. It's not hate to believe that women shouldn't have to see some dude's dick in a changing room. It's not hate to believe that teachers and educators encouraging children to take body-altering hormones and get plastic surgery is complete evil. It's not hate to not want to hear about some.4% of the culture's issues every day in every media outlet.
Hate is not the right word…
being irritated by is more correct.
most people are mentally stable and logical and know that dressing up as the opposite sex and taking hormones doesn’t magically make you the opposite sex, but when trans rights people push the “trans men/women are REAL men/women” it irritates anyone who is not unstable.
You can claim to be a cat, it doesn’t make you a cat, even if you graphed hair all over your body and got surgery to make you look like a cat… you are not a cat.
so when laws are created FORCING people to pretend that trans men/women are the same as a biological man/woman and that we can’t treat it like the mental disorder that it is… it makes society a joke, filled with easily triggered asshats looking to play victim.
Because they're deceptive. Firstly they claim to be the same as biological women, which is not only false but also extremely disrespectful, especially when they don't even act like women. Secondly, they demand special treatment and thin everyone should love them. And thirdly, they trick straight people into dating them by not telling them they're trans.
Most don't "hate" transgender. What people hate is the shit being shoved down our throats regarding transgender "rights". Why should 99+% be forced to change our morals and values to appease 0.001% who are seriously mentally ill.
I have compassion for transgender as I do for anyone else with a serious mental health challenge. There is little evidence that they do. Mainly as so called "transfolk" are a very tiny minority.
Because people don't like to tricked, also they don't want their children to be brainwashed.
Hate is a strong word and I dont know what you mean by "Hate".
Because they are mentally ill freaks that want us all to play along with their delusions.
Anytime you deviate from the norm society will always shun you. That's just human nature 101.
I personally wish I knew why they us. When I say us I mean Transgender people.
Hate in most cases can’t be explained
People fear what they don't understand.
