I'm not sure about more sophisticated, but the lockdowns have made them more successful. The Italian mafias' debt-enslavement "services" have been enjoying a boom in business. Also, Berlin's own state-media is reporting German alt-right "alternative-government"-movements that were already booming before just exploded in growth. Note: The groups generally consider the current Federal Republic of Germany-government illegitimate, and make their own documents (passports, drivers' licenses & registration, deeds, ballots, etc.), under the claim of a prior Reich/goverment: the 3rd (of Hitler), the 2nd (the Wiemar Republic), or the 1st (German Empire of Kaiser Wilhelm). They infiltrated the police, the military, the courts, , and the rest of the civilian-government… BEFORE the pandemic. They were even plotting assassinations! The lockdowns made the ruling government even more unpopular, boosting these groups' support. If you consider this to be an über upgraded version of identity-theft on Germany's current government, that should count, right?

Yup.
Had one guy call me trying to pretend to be my bank claiming i had a fraud alert.
He used my banks number and name popped up as my bank.

He already had all my banking information.
I knew it was fraud because he was asking me to confirm my debit pin information but i knew my bank never asked these questions.
So i just hung up and called my real bank immediately.

While i was on the phone with the bank he apparently cloned my card and was actually purchasing food at a restaurant with my card.

As they looked into it the bank almost disputed it because they said it was an in person purchase with my card. But i had my card and haven't been to tampa for 3 years.

No, fraud has been getting more sophisticated long before Covid. There are just scams that can be done with Covid funds. Also a lot of the preoccupation with the virus has been a big scam to make a ton of money.

I just think we’re living in a mass fraud generation it’s not because of covid 19 stuff like this started back in the 2010s where people thought the folks tale slender man was real and teenagers are starting to commit suicide at that time because of it and computers now are becoming more sophisticated

No. Just like people falling for scams are not always the brightest, so people falling for deep fakes are not really too sane.

Not really a variable as much as technology getting better and better. Perhaps people staying home and getting online made fraud higher, but tech is the ultimate reason.

Yes but also infralted prices of cars, houses, can't get parts, it a bubble that about to pop leaving those who bought houses with out of control property taxes
