No, I didn't. I've been around the military all my life and had already seen enough veterans and service members chewed up and discarded. Come back from war with serious issues, get no help, and then get locked up when he messes up. Injuries that prevent him from working, but can't get disability because that back problem is "not service related"
You're signing a contract that says the government owns you. No thanks
The draft board owns you whether you consent or not. Resist and a government thug abducts you at gunpoint to put you in a rape/torture chamber for an indeterminate amount of time. Resist hard enough and they can legally murder you in front of your family and neighbors.
I applied the first time when I was 17 but I was denied and by my fourth attempt I accepted it. Food allergies, flat feet, a history of asthma and sleep apnea disqualified me.
No, and I never will, because I'd make a lousy soldier. I'm too clumsy, I'd probably just end up shooting myself in the foot, or someone else in the back.
I tried to, but was turned down because of various disabilities I have when I applied at 18.
I understand. Do they have stringent health requirements?
I suffer from polio and I still got admitted to a desk job.
Yup, and unfortunately I didn't meet the requirements. In addition to my overall poor health from birth defects and disabilities. So when it came down to the physical training stuff I was told it would be a risk to let me join, so they basically politely declined. It's okay though, I later on worked as a volunteer firefighter for 4 years, seen lots of action doing that, took lots of physical therapy to help build up some strength. I loved it.

Nope.
I was in the middle of my Air Force Reserve process, when I realized that the amount they offered for my college tuition was not worth it. I also thought about doing active duty. 😂
Nah, it seems too stressful
I'm planning on going to med school. That's stressful too, but the military stress is different
No, i was lucky enough to serve the civil duty in a hospital, instead the military here in germany. And now its no longer mandatory.
I joined the British Army when I was 17 years old but I didn't make a career of it, it just seemed like a good idea at the time.
No because they wouldn´t take me due to that fact that I´m not very strong.
No, I joined Air Force ROTC when I was in college but I could not pass the eye test.
I was about to become a border hunter? Or what ever it's called. was tested to see where to put me. But i had a accident that damaged my lungs, so i was declared unfit.
I did. A few people had a bad day.
