I believe we are already in a recession. Recessions don't change things much for most people. However, if it develops into a severe depression, lots of people will be hungry and no doubt the crime rates, especially theft and shoplifting, home break ins, and even robberies will skyrocket.

Most experts predict that during a recession, you could lose your job,, get a drop in pay and benefits. Find it much more difficult to get another job because there would be a lot more competition from other individuals who are also unemployed. That was before the covid crises. A recession now would have unknown consequences on the average American citizen. With so many people making a conscious decision not to become game fully employed during the pandemic, and combine that with astronomical energy costs, the future seems to be precarious at best. Now I just heard that we can expect rolling blackouts this summer. One of the main protagonists of this looming threat is the demand on the power grid this summer from power hungry electric vehicles. The introduction of electric vehicles will exacerbate, not alleviate the demands on the power grid. Until electric car batteries can demonstrate greater range, coupled with a more realistic infrastructure to accommodate them, electric vehicles will continue to be a burden, not a solution.
