With the economy being a complete mess , and prices of things sky rocketing and companies and small businesses closing down , I feel like we are
Going to face a Great Depression , I can’t even go to a grocery store without spending a few hundred bucks just to get my basic groceries. I can’t even take a girl on a date without dropping a hundred bucks or more on a meal , like what the fuck is happening for us to be living this way , So many people are being laid off, the job market is a joke these days , I am blessed I finally landed a decent job again with a nice salary , but with all the costs rising, it seems like my salary won’t mean shit. People are stealing more and part of me doesn’t blame them , with how insane the cost is on things. So if you aren’t a millionaire , you’re fucked. Do you think things will eventually get better or continue to get worse? It seems to me it’s getting worse , what’s your thoughts on this?

No, prices are coming down pretty quickly! Gas dropped about 60c in just the past 10 months! I actually saw a dozen eggs on sale for $1.00 last week!! Bacon is almost down to $3.50 a pack.
Probably, part of the reason they're closing down is because they're now paying $15.00 minimum wage and they can't afford that. Because of that, they also can't afford to buy their supplies! Without their supplies, THEY can't sell and if they have nothing to sell, they go out of business! With other companies paying the same, they have to raise their prices and those first companies can't afford them, anymore!! Too bad you kids are so fucking greedy and want EVERYTHING handed to you on a silver platter!! WE understood that $7.50 an hour was only a STARTING WAGE!! Something to put SOME money in your pocket until something better came along!! So, you've only got yourselves to blame!
Remember when the job market was GREAT? It was about 5 years ago, back when Trump was in office the first time! Then, Joey cheated in the election and fucked over the entire country and now, you need a shoulder to cry on! Poor baby!

I think America is entering a golden age. Inflation has dropped in the last 8 months. It still has to get smaller to get under the target of 2% but it is much lower than the 9.9% we had just a year ago. Business investment jumped 22% which translates into more jobs and there has been billions invested already in America to build new factories and facilities to create even more good paying jobs. Over 250,000 people have been laid off from the Government, President Trump's efforts in shrinking government are showing signs of success.
Gas prices are down , most areas are less thn 3 dollars a gallon. Still not low enough but it is trending downward.
The US is taking in billions in tariffs and the major indexes in the stock market are all at or near record highs.
Interest rates are falling and there is a big tax cut next year so the economy is set to get even hotter.
It took the democrats 4 years to screw up the economy and President Trump is fixing it one step at a time.
Yes, prices are still high. That is the nature of the economy. Prices go up fast but it takes a long time to go down if ever. However salaries in relations to inflation are up and it looks like that trend will continue..
Im hear people complaining about the high cost of groceries but when Biden was president every week was an adventure at the supermarket. The cost of eggs have gone down and staples like meat and dairy proiducts have gone down. When Biden was president people would stand at the cash register and have to out items back on the shelves becaus ethey could not afford them., I have not seen that in a longtime.

I live in Türkiye. Unemployment here is much higher than in America. Prices are more expensive than in America. Our salaries are even significantly lower than in America. Capitalism must end. All countries, and all of humanity, must prevent the exploitation of people by the rich through low wages. The reason people in Türkiye suffer from poverty is because the ruling party, Erdoğan, has forgiven the tax debts of a wealthy segment of society that supports him and finances his party. He transfers the taxes paid by the people to this wealthy segment through tenders, and he himself receives a commission from these payments. In countries like Turkey, the government dominates capital. The country's money and resources are politically channeled to a narrow segment. The remaining segment of society is left to pay the taxes not paid by the wealthy cronies who receive tax exemptions from the government. This, in turn, leads to inflation in these countries. The people must do one thing in common: never impose such governments on their countries. They must organize and rebel. America and Europe are much better than Türkiye in this regard; there is no such thing in Türkiye. The judiciary has become a complete political tool.

I think we are closing in on a Western cultural and economic collapse that will result in a return to feudalism, World population will be reduced by up to 75% with most of the population living in horse and buggy subsistence farming as in the early Middle Ages. Regional Kings will emerge and it will take centuries for what we had in the 90's to recover... but it will.

Isolated fortified, cloistered communities that preserve culture and high technology will emerge and there will be communication and contacts between them. They will keep themselves separate from the masses to avoid disease and plunder.

Oh, definitely. The economy was already weak after suffering from Trumps first term a covid19. Biden did surprise the economists by performing a "soft landing" which was more or less only theoretical before then but that would still not be good enough to make America boom.

With Trump back at the wheel however its pretty much set in stone that America is going to crash and burn, and with that comes the rest of the world economy. The problem with the current economic issue is not that someone made a "whoopsie", rather there are deep systematic problems enabled by the people in power so there would have to be a purge of the entire system, including leadership, before the "good times" could actually return. It will happen but who knows how long it will take? 5 years? 10? 50?

Likely to get worse in the next year as I think business cycles is a thing. It may not feel like it but we are in a bull market and have been for 18 years. The end of the 18 year business cycle is close.

The economy is a complete mess? I had no idea. Last I checked, the economy was showing signs of strength with robust GDP growth in the second quarter of 2025, primarily driven by consumer spending and tech investments. A major factor that caused The Great Depression was The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act which raised tariffs and led to retaliatory tariffs by other countries. Trade wars only lead to decreased global trade and economic downturns. They have never worked out well for the country that initiated the trade war. If you don't learn from history, you will be doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.
