$50 Billion in military aid to the Ukraine was stopped by a Senator. What is good or bad?

Sen. Paul knows he can’t stop the money from going out the door. The clever thing he did was to put a hold because there is no oversight over what will be done with the money. It’s obvious that what goes into Ukraine through the front door goes out through the back door to Western elites after some skimming by Ukrainian oligarchs. The West turned the whole country into a grift operation, which is why the standard of living in Ukraine fell after the 2014 Maidan despite tons of foreign aid and investment.
I think I am just tired of the ridiculous double standards that people are applying to everything now.
The same people who are arguing for the United States to get involved in Ukraine to support a people in its fight against an oppressive regime to protect innocent lives
These are the exact same people who were against the idea of the United States having any involving in supporting the Afghan people in its fight against the Taliban...
Which immediately the removal of USA support led to the collapse of that government, and the reinstatement of much of the draconian rules of the Taliban regime.
This is all political infighting about who has the bigger D
No one actually cares.
This guy is an assholes, hundred of innocent people are killed, being bombarded everyday, having no water neither food, etc... Why doesn't he want to help? Also Russia taking over Ukraine is not going to be in favor of the US too Russia is not stopping at Ukraine he will get Moldavia, the Baltic, Finland, etc...
Believe it or not, there are lots of people in the United States that are starving too. To be frank, the US can't help everyone. They are sending money to South America, and helping here and there. I won't even mention the $Billions going towards illegal immigrant care. What about our homeless, our hungry, our elderly, our homeless vets? Charity starts at home. Just how high do you want our National Debt to go by helping every Tom, Dick, and Harry?
Your homeless can find a job, it's not hard. We should give money to vets and elderly but homeless and hungry can just work.
And we should definitely stop Putin before he invade more European countries and become more powerful.
It is hard for homeless to find a job. They usually smell because they don't have sanitary conveniences, and have no clothes to wear. Also, if you have no address or phone how are you gonna know anything even if you do apply? No one can contact you for even a job interview. They also have no money for transportation as even a public bus requires a fare.
So? They're born in America, they weren't born homeless they're homeless it's their fault. Getting bombarded is not your fault and you can't do nothing about it. It's time to stop excusing people for being lazy ass.
Because the policy of appeasement has never worked with aggressive nations. It failed miserably with Hitler, costing an unknown number of additional American lives, and, due to technology, it is a far smaller world in national defense terms than in 1941.
It's an investment
Additionally, from a consequentialist perspective, a good man who does nothing to stop an evil deed is worse than the evil man committing the act. The evil man is morally deficient, has no bearing concerning the righteousness of his actions. In short, he doesn't know that what he does is wrong or that he is evil, and as such is subject to his base instincts. He knows no better.
The good man who does nothing sees the evil and makes a conscious decision. Assuming he can do something to mitigate it, knows he should, and does not, he made a conscious decision toward inaction, to allow evil to continue.
"The only thing necessary for evil men to succeed is for good men to do nothing."

I've LONG since given up the idea of American politicians using taxpayer money to help Americans in any way, shape, or form. They'd sooner give $10 billion to Jeffrey Epstein's family and Amber Heard than they would to Americans who actually elected them into office.
Couldn’t agree more
Biden is WAR hungry because he thinks that’s going to save he economy and he so hates the fundamentals of the Constitution that he believes the only thing to do is a rewrite.
—He snubbing his nose in every possible corner. Can’t wait to see what he doesn’t do to China and Taiwan…since he gave China the keys to White House.
Biden probably has investments in the defense industry and he makes no money except from wars.
Sadly, I have to agree with this comment.
I think it was a good call for now... political motivations aside, he only asked for an inspector general to actually review how ALL of that money is going to be spend
I think that is not too much to ask for, and the bill will be passed anyway and the aid will be sent anyway... so just add this little thing that takes very little effort... right?
Any president putting other countries first besides their own just shows you their agenda. Along with allowing thousands of illegals to cross into a country. Pretty sure that's called Treason
But hey, at least no more mean tweets 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
#FJB #letsgobrandon
Sending 50 bill. While your own people are struggling.
This is bullshit.
Im not an American, bit the reason it pisses me off is due to the things happening in my country because of the war.
Like how the fuck is a refugee able to afford an apartment in the fucking capital city, but i can't get a flat for 1 person with my wage?
Im the tax paying citizen and as such i expect the government to act in my interest, not some foreigners.
a big part of why America doesn't have more social programs to benefit it's own people. is due to the American government sending tons of money over seas to aid other countries each year. also the fact that they spend roughly 10x more on their military to protect other countries. which many of those countries are required to pay America a fee for protection but hardly any do.
You're confused.
The senator and his backers didn't get their cuts, which is why he temporarily blocked it.
The USA military complex tends to pocket a lot of the money it gives as "aid" and the interest it collects is worth a lot more to the state.
You seriously didn't think those weapons and the aid is "free" to Ukraine, did you? It's why all weapons and terrorists turn against the USA. They hate it's foreign policies.
You know how people hate taxes with a passion but love everything that increases taxes? It’s kind of like gamblers that smoke cigarettes and drink and love seeing the flashy lights. Except they don’t even win anything. They are just there to enjoy the gambling and spend money. That’s the American government and democratic party right now. Just throwing money in the fire that we don’t even own yet, passing the debt to future generations because we won’t be alive by then.
Probably good... the US has money to help everyone else... yet they have their own citizens who struggle in the most basic ways of life that are constantly overlooked.
They’re not doing enough Ukraine what are they not invading Russia punching them right back in the mouth to stop the bullies i’m not saying to attack the innocent citizens I’m talking about to attack their military and the military headquarters for different locations they have set up
There needs to be public debate about and full accountability on how it’s actually spent. Congress, the Biden Administration and Ukraine are all corrupt as hell.
one thing the weapons that we send are in our stockpile just laying around most never to be used so its good to do house cleaning and as far as helping them you never want a country to just run over who ever they feel like you need check and balances and we can spend all they money in the world on people here and the same problems would still be here
Still spreading Russia propaganda.
Ukrainians experienced genocide at the hands of Stalin. Read a history book.
Fucking great news! Rand Paul is the only one in Congress who has balls.
@Elliegirl agreed
Rand Paul is a professional asshole. I remember him from hassling Dr. Fauci with all these ridiculous conspiracy theories of his. He brings absolutely nothing to the table for any sort of solution, all he wants is read his name in the damn papers.
Well it's good they didn't spend that money over sees, unfortunately they won't use for anything good over here either, won't put it towards are ridiculous debts.
Yeah, they would probably spend it on taking care of Biden's Babies - the illegal immigrants.
With that kinda money we can get rid of homelessness here at home permanently with about 20 billion, cancel all student debt and get people and children healthcare coverage for the next 10 to 15 years.
This is a relative question. An argument could be made for both side and they both have positive and negative outcomes.
Given the Senator you speak of I understand why he was against it. And while I understand, at the risk of me being a pessimist. The government is just going to find another way to waste that 50 billion. So IMHO he's not saving anything. Which I believe is his real motivation.
This is a very bad idea. Ukraine will eventually lose, and the Russians will inherit all that gear. Also, we have people starving in this country and that is taxpayer money. Use it to help taxpayers.
I don’t know why they even think we could afford to help and it just pisses Russia off even more whenever we do that
It's an investment, also Ukraine has to pay it back. The US government has designs on controlling the region
They aren't going to pay it back any more than anyone else has had to pay loans back from the US. It would be like trying to get water out of a stone. And especially not if Russia manages to take it over.
yeah, they'll pay it back to Biden and Pelosi's pockets, not to the taxpayers of the US.
"The loan was required after the U. S. terminated grants in aid to Britain under the Lend Lease Act, signed by then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1941. On 2nd September 1945, with the decision to terminate aid, some of the goods were still in transit and it was necessary for Britain to arrange new loans to finance reconstruction. "
en.wikinews.org/.../Britain_makes_final_World_War_II_debt_payments
OK, so strictly speaking it was to re-build after the war.
Lend lease was a loan not free stuff, even Russia had to pay back their debts. Think Taiwan still owes the US money for debts they took out during ww2 to fight the Japanese
Debts are how the US controls a lot of countries. Thevuk was left broke after ww2, while Europe was rebuilt the uk was still in ruin and rationing continued to almost 1960.
"Yeah - funny how that works, eh Rock?"
The US gives out billions in aid but takes in trillions and forces indebted countries to buy American products.
Germany and Japan have American bases in them, they are us occupied nations
The senator in question (Rand Paul) is paid off by Putin, according to other Republicans.
It is good that it was stopped. Russia might decide our meddling is too much and then we will be in world war 3. And such a war could easily go nuclear.
very good, ukraine is in Europe and should get help from european countries
I don't know why we get involved in everything, we have our own problems.
I'm amazed he was actually named. Aren't most of these things anonymous?
There should be an entirely separate section from Society and Politics. Something called Libtardism. On top of that we should have the MAGA section.
There is always big game going on behind the door that no social media user can see...
Life's are not that much easy as this post.
50 billion should be used to fix the homeless problem and the housing market as a whole. As well as urban planning. All of these I place before false platitudes and hashtags
Thank god they stopped it. To hell with those racist pricks
Good in my opinion. How much money are other countries contributing?
It’s bad that Putin has such a hold on Republican politicians.
This has nothing to do with Putin you brianless twat. It has everything to do with eliminating the inflation. Were already trillions in debt (which liberals were laughably bitching about when Trump was president) now they have no problem sending billions more to foreign countries that don't give a shit about us while spending more in an attempt to give illegals loads of free shit sent straight to the border. Democrats are 100 "America Last."
@SlightlyEccentric a billion is a drop in the bucket in our budget. Why don’t you look up how much were spending on tanks? Do we really need tanks?
Sorry. the US needs to stop ALL foreign aid. Literally all of it.
Sometimes I wonder, but they won't.
No they care more about idiocy over seas than our own homeless.
Fuck Ukraine we have enough problems to solve at home
Good. We're having toady problems here at home. Ukraine is not an ally and Russia is not an emeny.
i'm neutral on it, there are good reasons to give the aid, but it will make inflation even worse
Ukraine was never an enemy of the US. At least learn some history before shooting your mouth off.
Russia going to start ww3 he told slow Joe not to supply chain. So slow Joe you get it when nukes drop
Former enemies? What do you mean, enemies?
They were part of the USSR and they were our cold war enemies. When the USSR went broke the Ukraine went it's own way.
@Daniela1982 The U. S. S. R. was our enemy. Ukraine broke away from the U. S. S. R. because they didn't want to be a part of that anymore.
But they were.
@Exterminatore If only we could do that.
@daniela
I think it can be done. Let everyone else fight it or fund it and if they get their asses kicked then we’ll help.
Meanwhile France, Germany, Italy, UK, and all these other countries enjoy the stability we bring to the globe and do nothing to help. Let them fight and die. Let them pay for it and fund it.
Or
They can make some very lopsided deals trade wise in our favor for the next several hundred years or buy us off with land to make up for all we do and they benefit from but do nothing but be cheerleaders.
2 world wars is enough. Let them do their part. We bailed everyone out more than enough times. The UK still hasn’t finished paying their WW2 debt to us yet.
That was good.
