WHY DO WE HAVE A SHORTAGE OF BABY FORMULA AND BABY FOOD?

That's easy, but complex at the same time.

So-called "Green Energy" is the culprit, andthe sad thing is it is not even cleaner nor more sustainable than ordinary fossil fuels.

The United States used to be for over a hunded years the world's largest food exporter. now we are actually a net food importer and china is a net food exporter.

What happened? nothing necessary happened.. if we wanted to we could still out-produce China.

So what really happened?

Democratic policies happened. wasting all our grain to produce DIRTY Ethanol based fuels happened... without all our grain, we also no longer raise as many dairy cattle, so there is obviously not as much real milk nor baby formula... we are so GOD DANNED STUPID that now we need an Executive Order to emergency import baby formual and baby food from other nations...

are we having too many children? Yes, all humans are, but not americans. we're having fewer children than at any time in world history, so don't blame the lack of formual or baby food on a population boom. The united states population does not even grow at rplacement rates except through illegal immigration... because we don't have enough children to replace ourselves... because of abortion (other topic though).

So ETHANOL PRODUCTION causes baby formula shortages and food price inflation...

the cost of food at the grocery would literally be DIRT CHEAP if we weren't BURNING 3/4ths of our grain crops as ETHANOL every year... meat would be cheaper, dirty cheap, if not for Democrats and animal rights activists... MILK could be dirty cheap if not for animal rights and ETHANOL production.

Ethanol is not even cleaner than just burning more gasoline. I saw an article on MSN a few weeks ago about a new science paper on the topic, and they prove Ethanol produces significantly more pollution and water waste than does just drilling for more oil and burning gasoline...

Note. I'm not suggesting we keep burning gasoline either. i do not work for an oil executive. Im out of space again.

We do not produce "slighty" too much carbon pollution. We produce about 500 times more carbon dioxide and methane than the environment can recycle in a year.

Technology is NOT the future of humanity. Even someone as educated as Dr. Michio Kaku is deceived by technology he helped invent in some cases... it does not solve human beings' problems.

Eh, not quite, no.

The baby formula shortage is just a little more complex than "Democrats did it". It's a result of a combination of factors, none of which you've listed here.

First off is the fact that baby formula is a relatively small industry in the United States, with only a handful of companies producing the majority of the supply. When there is a disruption in that production, it causes significant shortages. Disruptuptions like the recent Cronobacter sakazakii contamination at a Michigan production facility, which resulted in a recall of several brands of formula.

Second are the supply chain issues that are still happening everywhere due to the diminishment of COVID-19. People are out spending more, and there are a lot of new babies out there, while production, which had slowed down somewhat, is still trying to catch back up to the surge.

This is compounded by the fact that a lot of people stockpiled formula during the pandemic, just as they did with toilet paper, but those stockpiles are running out, so they and going and buying more formula, further increasing the demand, when the supply hasn't caught back up, yet.

Next is the fact that the FDA has very strict regulations on imports of baby formula from Europe. This is mostly due to labeling guidelines, despite the fact that European formula is perfectly safe, which makes this rule somewhat idiotic, and only exacerbates the shortage, for stupid reasons. Honestly, the Biden administration could probably do something about this issue, in all fairness.

Lastly, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which Trump initiated on July 1, 2020, further increases shortages. This is due to the fact that, under the agreement, baby formula from Canada is subject to a 17.5% import tariff, which is absolutely insane.

While this tariff was meant to apply primarily to Chinese-made goods, in an effort to boost domestic production, which was an admirable goal, overall, a special provision was added to Canadian baby formula specifically because of Chinese investment in a plant in Ontario, which further reduces foreign supply, because of the ridiculous cost.

So, there are plenty of factors that come into play here, and while it's cathartic to blame the "evil Democrats" for everything, at least one major factor is the result of Trump, as well. I'm not trying to single him out, by any means; I'm simply pointing out that there is plenty of blame to go around, and the issue isn't as simple as blaming one side. Biden could lean on the FDA to loosen restrictions on European imports, as well.

It's just that a combination of factors, none of which have been under the total control of either Democrats, or Republicans, has lead to this shortage, and it's going to take some time until they are all sorted out.

The USA has always been at the mercy of external pressures much as it likes to deny it. The food issues now are no exception.

Food production is in USA is in the hands of a handful of corporations. They have been cutting corners and costs since the pandemic and between product recalls and resource scarcity have not recovered to pre-pandemic levels.

The USA can't produce shit at the moment, as it relies on others - many that Trump alienated.

partly due to manufacturing issues since the government shutdown things for nearly 2 years. also partly due to the government sending/giving supplies the illegal immigrates. however there are more factors I would imagine.

There was a product recall due to two babies dying from contaminated formula.

There's also a number of factors driving up milk prices... It's made of milk.

Yes and ethanol causes problems with rubber and plastic parts in an engine and can cause carburetor to become fouled.
