How can Americans help the babies that aren't able to get formula to eat because of the shortages?

You would think someone would step up to the plate and help with this disaster. Exitseven suggested another operation WARP SPEED like they did for COVID-19 vaccines only for baby formula. Biden won't help. How can we get this emergency remedied?

Warp speed won't work because the problem is the FDA and their strict red tap. I don't think having government make formula is a smart thing. Yes we got the vaccine really quickly but we all know it wasn't effective and it killed thousands of people itself.

There needs to be less red tape on the baby formula and even lesson the tariffs on formula coming from countries like Germany. The biggest problem is only 5 companies have market share in the baby formula industry.

Order formula from Europe. It's illegal, but this is a bureaucratic fuckup from the FDA, same with them not allowing others to make formula which allowed this to happen in the first place.

FIrst, we need to idetify why there is a shortage. Is there a supply problem for essential ingredients? Do we have processing plants that are off line? Is it getting manufactured but not delivered to stores?

People were warning of food shortages a year ago. But as it often plays out "Huuurrr durrr" my local stores are fully stocked!" here's how the supply chain works for the people that live in big cities and think the milk et al literally "comes from the store."

All of this can occur in the span of six months to a year. So there is a delayed effect that YOU the consumer won't see until its way past too late. As an aside this is also how oil and gas speculation works. I see these stupid ass articles about "No, Keystone XL had nothing to do with gas prices!" Hey dumbasses, if there's a breakdown in supply wayyyyyyy down the line, people way smarter than me will see it and adjust the price of oil and gas TODAY to account for it because come October, there might not be any gas at all, kind of like... the baby formula!

Now with that said.

1. Bring back wet nurses! Mofos love breast feeding in public so much, get everyone in on the fun. (men pretending to be women need not apply, play time is over).
2. Nursing mothers can sell, trade, or donate breast milk. They produce way more than what their baby will ever need.
3. I'd say make your own but the shelves are empty. Oof!

At some point women need to recognize that things don't always work out. Modern women tend to lead their lives by the seat of their pants with this YOLO sht. "Take it one day at a time" pfft! Well kiddos, sometimes the old man shaking his fist at the sky is right about things. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I've got 1 year of ready to eat food for my family. 1 year of food that requires preparation. 2 years worth of food for my animal thing here. The gas tank never touches the halfway mark. More fresh water than I know what to do with... Where were you guys when people were warning you about this stuff last year? Oh right, mocking people for storing up food. I can't bring myself to care honestly.

I am not sure who makes baby formula and what it is made out of. Maybe if there was a suitable replacement made from readily available stuff we could put out the recipe on different websites and support organizations like the Salvation Army could help get the product to where it needs to go.

We need to be VERY careful with this idea that the government should just take over businesses and production willy-nilly. That is VERY dangerous precedent.

It is Abbott's formula company spending their windfall from price gouging on stock buybacks instead of cleaning their equipment that led to the recall. Because it is a rich Republican company at fault and also democrats are sort of in charge of government, it's one of the rare cases where if there is was a solution it would instantly get overwhelming bipartisan support (republicans don't like to look bad and democrats don't like bad things to happen).

The problem is there isn't a solution. The solution was supposed to be government oversight to prevent the problem in the first place, but that always gets underfunded as "nanny state" during a republican administration, and especially one that campaigned on no accountability..
