What are you doing to benefit your community?

It’s been an extra windy year in the southwest United States. I’m seeing so much debris and trash landing in our beautiful parks and native areas. My husband and I along with our kids have started volunteering to help keep our tiny little community just a little bit tidier. We feel like this can have a profound impact on mental well-being as well as show appreciation for the area that we live in. What are some things that you can do in your part of the world?

I was going to post same question.

I've been doing the same in North East USA. I've never seen so much litter on sides of roads. I iniitlally picked up around 20 bags of trash on my long street and do a weekly walk and get another 1/2 to 1 bag full.

Something is messed up. It's free to dispose of trash. Either these "auto trucks" are losing stuff, bags aren't tied, or we have a lot more idiots that litter.

I bought a trash picker upper tool like a cane, helps to avoid back pain. It's therapeutic and I get to see nature at a different angle, a lot I wouldn't have seen before... flowers everywhere, trees, streams. I'm in a lovely place.

A few of us do food runs for the older members around where we live.

pop round make sure they are okay.

help them with things such as fixing washing machine, computers, WiFi etc

Will also drop off food parcels to some of those unemployed etc.

it’s easy going to a food bank if you live in a city but not if you live rural.

Really like hearing about helping those who are physically disadvantaged or elderly. Great show!

I don't really have a community. I have one neighbor, and the closest town is half an hour away.

I’m working to expose feminist lies to young women before it is too late. It is heartbreaking to see so many good hearted passionate women who have the ability to care about something besides themselves choose to invest that energy and passion in something which statistically will result in unhappiness later in life. I am also working to help young men be worth young women’s time before they become too set in their ways. This began long before I found GAG.

I respect everyone’s ability to have an opinion, and don’t pretend to be omniscient. Always willing to consider new logic or reasoned evidence with a good enough case made for it. I would be no better than those I’m trying to resist if I based my entire message on emotion and rhetoric. It would be hypocritical to only allow or respond to one perspective because that is not a conversation that is an echo chamber.

I contribute a lot of $$ to the local charities and once a week help wit canal garbage removal. Unbelievable how many used condoms wind up in our canals.

I do minor charity work. But I don't care about doing it for a community purpose as I couldn't care for such things.
