Anyone else feel irritated when people tell you to smile more?
How do you feel when people tell you to smile more?

Yep, it's irritating.
Guys used to say this to me, or me and my best girl friend, in clubs when we would go in our twenties. They always looked like they were trying to be playful, but it's such a common thing to say by certain types (extroverts, I suppose), it became an annoying pattern. I finally started replying back, so. Which got into a mini mock argument. And they thought I/we were being difficult. "You started it," or something, I would say. The banter can be fun. Gives an excuse to spar. But did I like it? Nope, never. Neither did she. I would play along a bit, though, see what comes next.
It must be a classic introvert-extrovert squabble. "Look on the bright side of life!" "Get serious!"
I've honestly never been told that but it's because I'm almost always smiling I think. I can imagine however how annoying it would be for someone to continuously hear people telling them to smile.
First off don't tell me what to do.
What is it going to do for you if you do smile more? Probably nothing for you personally, they're only asking you because it pleases them and has nothing to do with you.
Yep, I get told I look pissed off
