Going into Memorial Day weekend, I hoped we'd talk about the Indianapolis 500. About baseball or softball. I love my local league more than the majors. Barbecues, of course.
I asked anonymously, because I knew people would recognize our stream mass killings. Gun violence is quintessentially American.
What I hadn't expected is the anger just asking the question provoked in a few people. I wish we could be civil.
Enjoy the holiday and remember those of us who died for our nation.
For some reason, baseball feels like the all-American sport to me. But also American football. American stock car races. Thanksgiving The 4th of July. Memorial day. Macy's Christmas Day Parade and the Rose Parade. County and State Fairs. Many foods are quintessentially American.
Lately, it's been laughing at all the Europeans (mostly anyway) showing their envy and jealously about my beautiful country, while disguising it as disapproval of our "arrogance and entitlement". I have no problem with any European country. Why? Because they mean nothing to me and my way of life. I care more about what Canada and Mexico think about us.

Next time, use your actual profile or make up a new one that says you're from the US. Obviously you're not! Lol. You really need to worry about what goes on in your own country and not worry about mine.
I, badly, want to write something tongue-in-cheek about this such as to get drunk with a flag-waving buddy in the back of his pick-up truck talking about hot chicks and guns only to find yourselves going down on each other, knock a woman up to prove that you're "straight," and go to church "religiously" to pray the gay away. Wow, I feel like a D*CK!

@altaboy No, not really. You're a disingenuous US hating buffoon if you think the US has killed more innocent people than either of those four places before, let alone has killed innocent people intentionally.
@MCheetah Sad to say. WRT murder rate, the US is number 4 -- behind El Salvadore, Honduras and Venezuela. You're much safer in North Korea and China. China is actually number 10 from the bottom. One of the safest countries. (2017 murder rate statistic)

@Asker Where are you getting this information from? The US ranks 59th in homicides, which even as a firearms-protected country, makes it safer than most of Central America, South America, Africa and the Middle East. The US is only "violent" compared to other first world countries, like New Zealand and Canada. And none of those other countries have an equivalent of the 2nd amendment.
But besides all of that, I'm more specifically talking about the actual government (what people mean when they say "countries") killing innocent people. China may not have as many homicides, but they literally have internment camps killing ethnic Uighur Muslims by the thousands. Same deal with North Korea killing innocents.
LOL but not more overall mass shootings. I wonder how many of you still want diamonds when you know how they are mined in Africa. There are tons of people being killed with everything to Machetes to guns in MASS numbers. It's f*cking horrendous. Dont look at the place, look at the numbers per capita and the context. There's whole genocides happening over there as we speak. Same with places in East Asia too believe it or not. It's a societal problem. Why didn't we have these numbers of mass shootings before 20 years ago? The AR has been in civilians' hands since 1959. Whats the excuse?

Guns used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year — or about 6,850 times a day. This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.
Of the 2.5 million times citizens use their guns to defend themselves every year, the overwhelming majority merely brandish their gun or fire a warning shot to scare off their attackers. Less than 8% of the time, a citizen will kill or wound his/her attacker.
As many as 200,000 women use a gun every year to defend themselves against sexual abuse.
You are entering a patriot zone. Please do not pay any attention to any crossiants, tea kettles, or any euro making it their whole lives to hate/make fun of another country.

@Slingblade1126 I more mean like taxing people until billionaires don’t exist. I personally don’t believe that more than like 20 million a year is warranted for anyone. The median household income in America is $67,000 a year, I don’t believe people should be making that every day. Especially when there’s so many homeless and poor infrastructure and poor mental healthcare and education
I hear what you're saying but one of the main reasons the US is the most innovative country, is because the private sector has the capital and means to invent. NASA is being overtaken by the private sector. The government doesn't necessarily make money inventing, in fact, they're notorious for losing money and then asking for more. They have no interest in making money, only keeping a job. It's called "oppression".
