Was it the CIA President JFK was trying to dismantle prior to his assassination which conspiracy theorists claim it was not Lee Harvey Oswald who was the lone gunman?

It was J. Edgar Hoover who was the FBI Director. Kennedy despised Hoover and swore Hoover had just about every place Kennedy went, bugged. That's why Kennedy met multiple women in Air Force 1, including Marilyn Monroe. Kennedy was a philandering jerk, which is why Hoover couldn't stand Kennedy either.

My parents totally believed Johnson was behind the assassination with the strong possibility the FBI was in on it too. Personally, from everything I've read and seen, I don't believe Oswald acted alone. That's the reason Jack Ruby took him out within a couple days - to prevent him from blabbing.

Keep in mind, it was Johnson who had the records of the assassination sealed for 99yrs! By then, everyone involved will be dead and there won't be anything anyone can do about it by then.

I've never seen a compelling reason to think anyone other than Oswald did it alone. After all these years they haven't come up with anything convincing. So they probably never will. Most of those people are not even alive any more. Even those of us who were kids when it happened are getting older and will eventually fade away.
