Are the majority of Americans "Anglo-Germanophiles" ?

On this site I spoke with several Americans and for the vast majority of them they were either Anglophile or they were Germanophile.

If the answer to my question is yes, can this be explained by the fact that many Americans have German, English and even Irish origins? I read the following statistic there are 42.8 million people of German descent, followed by 30.5 million people of Irish descent, 24.5 of English descent.

Personally, I don't think most of Americans are either Anglophiles or Germanophiles. Many Americans tend to look favorably on Europe as a whole and, of course, that tends to focus in on certain countries, like England and Germany. However, it is probably more like a relationship that an older brother shares with his younger brother.
Americans do, on average, tend to be more egocentric than many other nations.
(And before people decide to write a long hate reply, it is only logic that Americans would be more egocentric. They have been the worlds protector, largest economy, and only world power for about 77 years and had an incredible impact on the victories of WW1 and WW2.)
While some Americans are definitely Anglophile and Germanophile, I would guess that most aren't.
As for Americans having a large potion of their population being from England, Germany, and Ireland. Yes, those three countries have had an enormous impact through immigration. Although, so has the Dutch, French, and Mexican countries. Even if I assume those numbers are correct, that only makes up about a third of the US population.
Anyway, this was a very interesting shower thought. Let me know what you think about my thoughts and it should be a fun discussion:)

You're right for the most part. Compared to the English, Germans, Dutch, Irish, etc. the French didn't have nearly has high of immigration rates. I probably shouldn't of included them, lol

Despite all the flaws of this site, you should have a good time on this site. For me this site is the best questions/answers site. Well, as far as my English is concerned, it is sometimes quite confusing because my English is not perfect sometimes during debates it is difficult for people to understand my message lol.

What fields do you work in, or are you still a student? Are you in politics or something like that?

I just recently graduated, in December. Currently I am a landscaper. I am not thrilled with it, but it pays the bills. I would love to work in politics and have given it a ton of thought how to start, but a lot is working against it right now. I have also thought about being a lawyer, but I can't afford the extra schooling that would be required for it.

German is the most common ancestry in the US, but I don't think many relate to it. The surge of German immigrants to the US was 150 years ago. I've found that most people don't hang into their ancestry and language more than a couple of generations (the immigrants plus one more generation). In most cases, by the third generation most of that is lost.

The people with German ancestry in the US are concentrated in the Midwest and north central states. You can even hear it in the accent in some places. I have heard, but I'm not sure if I believe, that there are towns where German is a common native language.

It also depends on what you call "German". What German states? What time period? Do you consider the Anabaptists German? Like the Amish and Mennonites?

Interesting about the high percentages of German descent. I knew some came from there but didn't realise such a high percentage. The word Anglo itself refers to the angles to which many English people are descended. In England there was always a strong connection with the German motherland and it was common to reference the whole Anglo-Saxons thing. Outbreak of WW1 ended that and I wonder if that what happened in America.

I’m of Anglo-Saxon descent. At some point the Saxon part would trace back to what is now Germany before it was called Germany, but according to research my family has done, my family’s ancestry in America is English, Scottish, Spanish, and Cherokee.

This is an interesting question. To be honest with you, I don't think many of us are. The Germanophiles I've met are people who spent some time there in connection with the US miliary in some way or in learning the language. That's a tiny subset of the US population. I suspect it's the same with regards to being an Anglophile, i. e., having spent time there to be exposed to the culture.

I also don't encounter many Francophiles anymore, either, and I'm one myself.
