UK Jubilee... Your thoughts?

LONDON (AP) -- Queen Elizabeth II is widely viewed in the U. K. as a rock in turbulent times after seven decades on the throne.

But many people in Britain's former colonies see her as an anchor to an imperial past whose damage still lingers.

The U. K. just celebrated the queen's 70 years on the throne with pageantry and parties.

But some in the Commonwealth are using the occasion to push for a formal break with the monarchy.

I detest the concept of a monarchy. But allegedly 70% of the population support her.

So you can't really realistically work with that level of stupidity, without feeling some kind of despair.

Outside of London there wasn't the mass celebrations the media suggests. It's a shame some of our colonies want to break ties, I think they should be looking at current times not the distant past
