In a way we have been in one for years. Only it's a culture war. Both sides of the isle and both sides of many given social debates have been fighting it. Also both sides have been skirmishing in the form of protests vs counter protests and all out riots. There have been some actual fighting between them as well.

Though at this point I'm Persona Non Grata simply because I'll gladly call out people on both sides for their bs. Also I'm not willing to pick a side due to the sheer stupidity and lack of emotional control on both sides.

No, that would inevitably be horrendous. What I think is that Washington should IMMEDIATELY start authorizing emergency oil production, and the Biden administration admit that trying to "eliminate fossil fuel consumption" while having nothing to replace it with was idiotic. You need to build up an alternative BEFORE you take down the standing order.

Ideally, we'd have a strong, diverse energy grid (funny that word actually applies here, FAR better than how it's usually used), so that if one source has a problem, we have others to rely on. We'd also ideally be energy-independent, so minor disruptions on the other side of the planet wouldn't throw our markets into chaos.

Unfortunately, solar and wind are decades of heavy research away from being anything more than a minor help. We can go nuclear, we can stick with fossil fuels, or we can fail. Those are our options. Any deeper change is going to be incremental.

Well there are no real winners in war, the Ukrainian people are being murdered by a Russian invasion and war.

You want to back a side that carries out the destruction of cities and towns, go for it.

If the Russians do get half the country, then they have to hold it and put up with resistance from Ukrainians and the other half of Ukraine becoming a fully westernised and armed country.

When you send your army into a modern war without secure communications, when people need to crowd fund secure radios and other kit, you know that country is in trouble.

A lot of Russian kit that has been captured has been found to contain western technology and products.

When you have the number of senior officers killed as the Russians, then you know they are doing something fundamentally wrong.

@JustiReno just a distraction to lose most of their special forces and air borne troops, most of their attack force set up for the Invasion…. Yeah sure.

They are using WW2 tactics and battlefield command structure against a NATO trained army, who now specialise in small squad tactics, have people trained in Battle Space Management and who are now getting counter battery systems to help neutralise Russia artillery.
