Really I believe this is the only way to stop Civil War and tens of millions of dying and probably China just coming in and taking over. The conservatives have been pushing for this for a while now. The whole idea of "If we can't win the whole then we want to split off so we can maintain our way of life." Slavery and the confederacy comes to mind.
