Was the War of 1812 an underrated war?

Revolutionary War Part 2, a "rematch" of the American Revolution.

Sharp uniforms, mutton chop sideburns, top hats, badass tall ships. Americans combating the British navys. The birth of the American National Anthem.

"An underrated war". Now THERE'S a phrase I don't think I've ever heard before. Anyway, no, not really. The US declared war without having a standing army, the English were too busy getting their butts whupped by Napoleon to contribute much, the Canadians use their admittedly very impressive performance as proof that "they beat the US in a war" despite the fact that their side LOST, and most people forget the Confederacy was even INVOLVED. Not the best time for anyone.

I don't think it's underrated. It's not talked about enough with value.

The War of 1812 is downplayed because it's embarrasing how easy it was for British troops to invade and take over control of the White House with virtually no opposition. (Canada was still a British colony at the time.) We're taught in school that the US triumphed in the end, but the particulars are kept vague. Amurica!
