What is it like to be a woman in the military?

I live in a Latin country, as in many other parts of the world, the FFMM offer work and security (also the fact that in my family almost all the men are from the army). I graduated from my profession (psychologist) a few months ago and the vacancies in the military service (I would be part of the administration) will open in a short time. I want to be honest, I am terrified, I know it is a hard process but I am very afraid. First of all, I am a woman who looks much younger than my age, I am short and very thin so I always inspire tenderness rather than respect. second, I am shy and although it is something that I hide in my professional facet, I am very shy. I know I have good entry points, I'm smart, I speak three languages, I'm charismatic (in a lovable way), and I'm good at following directions, routines, or creating plans. So if there is a girl here who is part of any military force, I would appreciate her advice. Thank you

If you're going that route, you have to be very, very, very careful. As someone mentioned here with a link, in the US, there are many cases of women getting taken advantage of sexually in the military. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same in many other countries, like your own. Even if you don't think so, there could still be many cases that aren't reported for conspiring reasons..

Especially as someone with your frame and shyness, I think you will need a trustworthy group to help protect you while you are there. If this is something you are really passionate about, please consider all the possible consequences that come along with this decision.

Military training alone could really break someone down mentally. It's not sunshine and rainbows. That country is essentially turning you into their weapon.

In the US it depends on the branch. Or rather the air force is not much different from civilian life for women, because the gender ratio is about the same. But in the other branches it's pretty heavily tilted towards men so it's basically like being on a dating site but in real life.

But that's enlisted. I haven't any idea what it's like for officers.

Women usually get into it to get attention and status. Like in Pakistan when those female soldiers were acting all tough saying how strong they were, they just drop their guns and ran when they saw the taliban come running at them. They usually drop their guns and run away when they get scared. And a lot of times the men hear them screaming and they sabotaged the mission to go save the woman. The men sabotaged the missions a lot when they see a woman in danger. So they try to keep them from working together. They are not required to do the same amount of push as men which is bad because if someone gets hurt they aren't strong enough to take their wounded ally to safety. They're not good when it comes to being boots on the ground or front line inferintry. But they're really good at operating air craft. Their small body size helps them through the gunners easily.

I served in the Air Force (RAF) and worked with women from all 3 services, everyone was pretty much professional 100% and did not matter if you were working with a guy or girl.

a lot will depend on how society is with women in general, how much respect is show to people irrespective of gender or social standing.

Yes you will meet arseholes but you get that in any job.

the important thing is to use your time in military to maximise your education and experience.

I’m qualified and will honestly say. That most women are or become slutty in the military because of the fact that they are basically constantly surrounded by men. So they’re reproductive hormones go CrAzY!!!
