My example is different. I was constantly told that Russia was a horrible place for "Black" people to visit. That Russians were racist and were especially racists towards "Black" folks.

Then I went there for about a month and had the time of my life.

US is the worst place for black people in my opinion

I think the situation is more complex than that. In the U. S., race is very simple. Racists make the claim that "Whiteness" is pure. So anyone with the smallest drop of "Black" blood is "Black".

In Russia, people didn't even understand how I could be classified as being "Black". Because of course, I have a tiny bit of American Indian ancestry, along with a truckload of DNA from Ireland, the UK, etc.

So I am brown-skinned.

But if you look at the experience of African-immigrants in Moscow, it is horrific.

Mind you, this was almost a decade ago. I think things are better now.

I have talked with few people there and saw so many travel and food vlogs on YouTube of western people visiting/traveling there and changed my mind. People are very friendly, hospitable and warm welcoming there.
