Why do Conservative Christians often go against Jesus's teaching?

Not a wise idea to teach kids how to use Guns at school

Many Conservatives in the US often acts hateful towards one another or judgmental, which goes against Jesus's teaching of "Love thy neighbor" and the like. So why is that?

Why do they also closely identify themselves with Guns and Christianity too?

I wish more Christians lived by this. My only issue with anyone religious is when the way THEY choose to live starts creeping into their expectations of how the rest of society lives. You can’t go around pointing fingers at other people, just live your own life the way you feel is correct and don’t campaign against what others do that you might not do. Your God that you believe in will supposedly make those judgements, that’s not the mortal man’s place.

I'd argue that if your culture is going to be gun-heavy, then gun safety is exactly the sort of thing you SHOULD be teaching them, but that's not really what you're asking.

And they usually go against Jesus' teachings for the same reason liberal Christians do: they find the ideas comforting, but don't really accept them; faith for them is more of a matter of identity than of genuine belief.

Don't forget that the Israelites were God's chosen people and used weapons to kill their enemies. God even instructed them to kill certain people including women and children as they were truly evil and God was judging them.
