Why do people consider "Indian" a race?

This is my newest favorite question in the whole wide world and I think you should win the Nobel Prize for asking this question and look how simple it is so all those people right there they all have,798% of the same exact DNA they're all from the same place yet they all look different because whether it's 1% 2% of your parents jeans mixed or if it's from the place that you live on earth and it's harsh conditions weather wise whether it be sun whether it be snow we were all given the ability to adapt to our environment and in time with the genes of our parents we get new looks even though we are 97% identical twins so if you look at the difference between all those pictures and then you look at America and then you look at China and then you look at Sweden and it's the exact same thing because we are all one we are all identical with the same 97% DNA no matter what part of the planet you come from where all the same the only things that changed was the ability for our bodies to adapt and our genes that we inherited from our ancestry are parents

And the reason you should win the Nobel Prize is because you just proven something to me and it only took you this long to figure it out yet there are millions of ignorant people out there and ignorance is the greatest evil on this planet look at all the destruction it has caused and with the simple question it's all right there in order anyway I'm putting you in for the Nobel Prize for being so smart and asking this question and then showing us all the facts the truth thank you for this question

It seems it's only an American thing. I am not an American and in high school I was taught that Indians are Caucasians ( the same with Arabs).

I guess because in America everyone is an immigrant or a descendent of one, each group feels a need to stand out. So they make everything a race.

Because your from India. The same way we would call you Mexican if from Mexico but that's not the race but it's used interchangeably almost. You are indeed Asian if we talk about race. Just the same way British are not race but you wouldn't just call me a Caucasian to someone you meet you would probably just say oh he's my British friend.

Therefore most people refer to a Indian friend as Indian not South Asian but both is true. Just all about what's easier to say really. Same with how it's easier for me to say Filipino or Japanese. It's more of specific term than a broad term since if I said Asian it could be from many countries, same if you said Caucasian.

Also if you hated Indians but didn't mind Asians from other countries. That's still been racist at the end of the day. People don't really use another term for that frequently just because it's easier to call it the same thing.

The country of India is locked down by mountains like the highest mountain in our world. Then the only traveled routes are also locked down by china and pakistan who are theologically lockdown aswell.

Also if you go to some places in india you won't fidn all that variety that you show in those pictures, all the women would look more like the lady of the second and last picture...

I would not call indian a race, but an ethnicity and certainly you can spot an indian by his facial structure from kilometers...

At the end of the day, I think that we should judge people for who they actually are and not their race, creed, country, or color of their Skin just judge them literally on the type of human being they are. In any event that is just my humble opinion.

Probably because most people don't know much about India. You bring up a good point because I can't think of another "race" of people that I've seen so many sub-stereotypes if you get what I mean

You may find that it’s the likes of Americans and Europeans who know not a lot about India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and then likes of Siddhi etc. i have never heard anyone in UK refer to Indian as a race. If anything we tend to separate each area out.

Shit in the US there are 2 Indian Races. Caucasians like Indians Arabs, Whites, Hispanics are all separated into their own races despite technically being the same race.
