What do you think of anatomically correct dolls?

Is this bad or just a natural course of modern educational life?

I helped grow my infant cousin up until he was 3 and a half.

He peed and shit on me and I kinda experienced it all (wiping his ass, penis, washing him, feeding him etc). Nothing happened and nothing was weird about it. I'd do it again and would let my daughter do it.

And if there's nothing wrong with experiencing the real thing, why should be wrong to have anatomically correct dolls? I'd say make them cry, pee and poo too, so the girls actually get to see what they're going to deal with as grown ups.

I do not think they do any harm. After all, they are only displaying what is factual. Personally, I grew up in a naturist family, so it wasn't really relevant. I wasn't a doll sort of girl anyway.

Anatomically correct dolls are okay, but I don't see the overall benefit. Speaking from person experience with my 3 now-grown kids, kids rarely have the doll naked. They usually just change the doll's clothes while keeping the doll's underwear on. So, there's really no benefit to the doll being anatomically correct. Plus, for a classic (no genitals) doll, kids can determine whether the doll is a boy or a girl. For anatomically correct dolls, you'd have to buy two dolls to let the kids make that decision.

And Laurie, as you point out in your update question, kids see boy and girl genitals in their siblings, and sometimes in their parents, so there's really no benefit of an anatomically correct doll.

Honestly I have sympathy for answer A, but things are probably more complex in that field. In the field of children playing with those dolls, I'm still not sure the anatomical details should be that precise, safe if the parents are a bit more confortable with that.

Now, adults also sometimes play with realistic dolls, I mean sex dolls. Having a Japanese model, relatively realistic, I can tell you that they will never be able to replace a plain real living woman. Just saying out of experience ;0)

I think in the case of toys like that it honestly doesn't matter. Everyone already knows what genitals look like, but they serve no useful purpose to the toy's functionality as a makeshift pretend child, so including them is a waste of plastic in my opinion.

If it were a realistic toy of some other animal, I'd see the educational value in an accurate representation.

That said, I honestly don't see the point in dolls of human babies period. If a kid wants to coddle and tend to a baby, get them a kitten or puppy from a shelter, it does the job much better and they can learn how to actually take care of something while saving it from death at a kill shelter.

I think they are fine, but also hilarious depending on the situation. We have a set in our home that is from my own childhood, which puts them close to 40 years old. It’s really funny watching an infant take the baby doll’s clothes off and parade them around the house.

They're kinda creepy to be honest and I don't see why a child would have a use for a baby doll with life-like genitals. The use I could think of is for training prospective parents on how to properly clean and diaper their soon-to-be born IRL baby when he or she makes a stinky.

They are getting so life like. I feel like that will look at the dolls and then go check their siblings. Don’t get me wrong they have made dolls more realistic and relatable to today and they are not just perfect bodies anymore.
