He is trying to do his job and make sure the neighborhood is safe, and this guy is giving him a hard time instead of complying with the officer.

Trespassers shouldn't have to have ID to prove who they are or where they live. It should all be based on the honor system.

Cop: Sir, we saw you running away from the liquor store that got robbed. Did you do it?

Suspect: Nope.

Cop: Do you promise?

Suspect. Yes.

Cop: Unit 14 to base, it looks like we have a code four here. The suspect promised he didn't do it.

Base: Roger that, unit 14, good police work.

I don't know the full reason for the officer shaking him down, but the citizen didn't help his cause either by being defiant.

I would not have a problem is the policeman wanted all that stuff from me. That's my viewpoint, it could have been an easy fix if guy took him to the front desk area of building. Americans are so freaky BUT yet want Safe everything...

another dumbass cop, lacking common sense, and--based on anecdotal evidence--targeting a minority. but it's hard to find cops to join the ranks of these idiots so the guy probably never missed a paycheck.

No. The officer was the criminal and should be arrested for assault and send to jail for 30 days. He had no right to threaten a student picking up trash. The officer just let his position go to his head and that people should be obedient slaves. The USA is worse than Nazi Germany was to ordinary citizens with the exception of Jews.
