That's the idea of an "Open Society" as in George Soros' Open Society Foundations... He wants to eliminate nations all together and our borders, eliminate police, tear down the rule of law, and foster chaos and anarchy so that a power vacuum forms in a revolution to seize control of territory and resources which he and his allies can lord over as warlords with a totalitarian dictatorship. Nationalism is something that people created to escape monarchy so that We The People could be free from tyranny living under an agreed upon constitutional law that protected everyone's unalienable rights. A border is really just an imaginary line. It doesn’t necessitate a barrier of any kind. Nearly every US state has at least one border, but thousands of people cross over them every day with no imposition whatsoever. So i would say “open border” is not an oxymoron.

A border is a line where two entities abut. In the case of countries, it is the line where two countries join. It can be closed like in an electrified 10 metre high fence. It can be unfenced, but still be illegal to cross. It can be fully open where anyone can come and go.

In other words, a border is a noun and open or closed is an adjective describing that border

Oh I do find it interesting that the last time a large group of fighting age man try to sneak across your border to kill people the RAF disagreed rather vehemently about whether the border was open or closed. In my country the amount of people killed or maimed for life by the fentanyl one mule is capable of sneaking over our border with is beyond the wildest dreams of the amount of people killed by one German bomber crew. And I’ll stop you before you say America isn’t under attack by hostile state actors or that was a declared war.

A border is a legal territory. In the case of 'Open border' people tend to think 'no border' when in fact its the opposite. It is still a border- but some are given an easier pass through it is all.

Yes there must be limitations or the country would be completely exploited. So open borders won't work unless the culture and laws and conditions are similar enough.

Open is the way they all should be
