Given a choice of working with a black person or a white person, who would you choose?

Assume you didn't have access to any other information besides that fact that one was black and the other white. Please don't hurl angry insults. I believe in equal opportunity and I believe blacks have equal ability (when they actually apply themselves). I just think people are biased against black people for many historical reasons.

I am surprised how fearful everyone is about answering this question as it is presented. I asked whom you would choose if you had no other information other than skin color. Nearly everyone avoided the question by saying "choose the one with the best qualifications" or "i would ask about their experience." There are times when you have no opportunity to investigate or evaluate. So it comes down to skin color. Everyone has an opinion but this forum is too "woke" to give honest answers.

I guess if I’m forced to pick, I’d work with the black person. I’d say the most uncomfortable moments of my life are when other white people say ignorant shit to me, assuming I think the same, and then I’m forced to either have a conflict over it or silently shrug it off and just hope they see I’m not joining in on it, and I honestly don’t know which is more awkward. For sure it isn’t every white person I deal with, or even most, but it happens a lot more than you might think. So that would eliminate that possibility, and that’s probably the scenario I’d want to avoid the most. Anything else, I can probably manage, I just don’t want to have awkward interpersonal interactions, and jobs seem to be where I most frequently encounter those awkward “hey, are you racist too?” moments, for some reason.

Believe me or not in many places in the world black people don't have the same chances as white people. It's not a matter of not taking the chances. Also, yes we're in 2022 but racism is still real.
You probably don't see that because you're white. You're not affected by black people's problems, so it's easy to ignore them. And I'm not saying this to criticize you, I'm just stating a fact.

white as and i'm more comfortable culturally. most black people I worked with were good experiences and some of the white ones were trouble as was an egyptian and a chinese or two. So it depends. But if all I have is white/black, I'd choose whom I'm more familiar with due to risk of getting someone extremely bad. I've known some black people, too many, whom were off the charts awful to deal with (bad parenting, education, discipline, emotional issues)... wouldn't want to work with them.

I GUESS white but, I really don't care. It's just that I'd have more in common with the white person. My band was run by a black guy and we had a lot in common! Neither of us liked rap, we bother like all the same music, movies and t. v. shows and he didn't speak or act black. In the 25 years we were in the band together, it was hardly ever pointed out that he even was black! I don't recall him ever using his skin colour to gain any kind of an advantage. He was an equal.

Well for me personally say I was their to-be boss. I would look at their resumes, how they did in the interviews, previous working experience, etc and make a decision based on how well I think they'd do and which one would meet all my expectations. It comes down to ability and skill

That is all you have to go on. Let me rephrase the question to make it more palatable. You walk into a doctor's office to become a new patient. You learn there are only two doctors. A white male doctor and a black male doctor. You aren't given their ages, experience, training. Just the race. Who do you choose?
