Have you had an animal ask for help?

I found this inspiring video... this woman removes hooks from sharks. She helped some sharks and the other sharks developed trust, so she has pulled many hooks out of sharks.

I've had a few scenarios. My first kitten cried from the weeds as I was riding by. I stopped and he ran out, only to run back. he was starving and sick, so I took him in.

This year I had a bird (or turkey) run out of the bushes to me, only to run back. I didn't save him but next time will try to.

It seems animals know when they need help and will ask. I doubt they ask other sharks...

We live on property in a rural area. A next door neighbor moved and apparently left two cats behind. The girl started hanging around our front porch. She was pretty feral but we fed her and she started to gain some trust and would let me pet her briefly.

At some point, we noticed that she was pregnant. I managed to catch her and put her in a cat carrier, which made her very unhappy. It was a betrayal.

I took her to a no-kill animal adoption center where they could take care of her and her babies and spay her. I figured it would be cruel to have homeless baby kittens running around.

I told them that I would pay to adopt her once she had weened the kittens, but they never called back.

I've seen the boy cat in our yard, but it doesn't come around looking for food. It must be self sufficient.

The only other animals I have rescued were gopher snakes who were in danger of being run over in the road. And one time I rescued one that was coiled against our front step and hissing because one of cats was trying to kill it.

I also catch and relocate the occasional rattle snake that bumbles it's way into our garden.

good stories. you catch rattle snakes yourself? I'd definitely put out rattle snack repellant:) lol.

I had similar experience with pregnant cat but someone already caged her. kittens were going to be terminated by shelter so I took her in. she was a beast for some time after having the kittens in my spare bedroom. I'd feed her wearing full leathers and helmet as she'd tear into anything near the kittens. eventually, she realized I was safe and became friendly sweetheart. I found homes for some kittens and kept the others.

Cats will find help and seek comfort, their senses of humans is keen.

And I agree with what you said about cats. I've heard of totally feral cats becoming lap cats, once they learn to trust.

Surprisingly, I'm sure there are lots of rattlesnakes around our property, but we rarely run across one in our garden. I suspect some are there, but they don't want trouble and will warn you if they feel threatened. The species we have here aren't large or aggressive.
I have a snake stick thing. It has a handle with a trigger. On the other end of a 3' shaft are jaws that open and close when you pull the trigger. I use that to pick up the snake, put it in a box (12"x12"x 14" tall, and close the flaps. Then I drive it to a spot on my property, down the hill and away from the house, and release it to eat more mice, voles and baby ground squirrels.

I might have to invest in one that’s a friendly way to handle them. I’ve only found baby snakes so far that weren’t an issue. Everyone just wants to eat and be happy.

my cat didn't ask for my help...

but I still rescued her during a heavy rain thunder storm, when she was a kitten... lol

I just lifted a chipmunk out of a pond, it was caught on some sea weed. I visit a friend who has a cabin near the lake and I run into animals every day who need help. I know they die all around me as part of nature but if I’m there and they need help and I can help, I will. Around here, big or small, fluffy dry or slimy, animals tend to walk up to me when they are injured, scared of something, dehydrated or starving…. I assumed the word is out on the street that I am a helpful “predator” lol

I believe animals have attuned senses and they trust you aren't going to hurt them.
you may be well suited to wildlife rehab.

A shark hasn't the intelligence to ask for help. Chances are they've learnt to approach divers looking for a free handout. Distressed animal's hide away they don't seek out humans

I've rescued a seagull from some fishing line. He wasn't exactly cooperative or grateful.

imagine a creature the size of a 10 story building grabbing you, you'd be scared as well. I suspect animals who have no choice, may take a chance based upon their senses. not all animals respond the same.

who knows... maybe we'll come back in another life as an animal and get their perspective...
