Do you help stray animals?

My friends and I, have saved couple of stray animals, one kitten and a pup from the car accident in the past, we took them to vet clinic and both of them survived.

These days, especially after my own broken leg, I got even more concerned with the fate of stray animals,

I kind of see this injury, as my calling that I should help those who experience the same fate. The animals who are left alone and are always in danger of being hurt.

My break takes 4-6 months recovery and I can not do much to help physically , other than donating to the surgeries of the pups and kittens who have had their legs broken or amputated and need to be taken care of.

It makes me feel fulfilled and I feel like my leg break was worth it and I am somehow also healing myself.

It made me more empathetic to the pain of other living beings and more enthusiastic to help them.

But it has also been very difficult emotionally, one of the stray pups, that I was keeping a close eye on passed away right before his surgery, due to his injuries. And I feel very sad.

I feel very close to them, because they also experienced same trauma as I did and it hits very hard to hear the bad news about them.

Are there stray animals in your country? And do you help them?

Yeah, countless, for some reason animals always like me. Even the most dangerous dogs and hissing cats get clam with me easily. So far I have helped countless cats and dogs, and neighbors with their pets birds, rabbits, and horses. Rescuing, fostering, treating minor injuries, cleaning infections that other people even will not touch, I have done it all. Helped local foster care, and countless found loving homes. It's not always rainbows. Animals die in your hands and care and then you have to bury them or euthanize them if they are suffering and beyond medical treatment, those parts are incredibly difficult.

I have done a lot in my high school and UG years and now in grad school I don't get much time. Plus it makes dating harder. I have spent a lot of money on their treatments, food, and other arrangements. I don't have a car/bike or can take dates to expensive restaurants. Generally, girls don't like that and those are serious turn-offs in a man of my age where every other guy has them. Plus they don't usually like a guy getting teary for a dead animal. They make fun of such men behind. At least what I have experienced so far. I don't earn much already and trying to save some. Generally, other people involved in such are all older women and younger women feel irked and weird. I already never had a girlfriend. Currently, I have to focus on myself, may resume again after getting a little older.

My neighbor was an elderly woman who would trap stray cats, have them fixed, then release them. Every morning, she fed three nearly identical black strays as well as two neighbor cats who were mooching food (one of them was my indoor/outdoor cat).

When she moved, I took over the feeding duties!

Also I have two cats and a dog: all rescues.

Yes, I do. There is a shelter and a vet clinic for the stray cats. I help them with bills and organize collecting old towels and blankets for the shelter. Sometimes, I volunteer to catch free-roaming cats for neutering.

It's lifetime involvement... in Poland, the number of stray animals is huge, and not existing education in this area makes things really difficult

As well as humans who just need a little help... yeah. But ever since my baby boy (my sweetest doggy) i keep us at a stranger level. I'll help the stray... but don't expect me to be your saivor.

Absolutely. My biggest expense each year outside of food and housing is probably random critters. Worth every penny of it. My rescue kittens are the largest beneficiary of my estate, but a large portion goes to local critters in need.

I have helped many stray animals. Usually not dogs and cats though, it's often been more wild animals that I have helped. Like raccoons, owls, ducks, turtles, and animals like that

some of them, yes... if they're in really bad shape/bad shape

other than that, I've fostered a few kittens over the last years, which is a more involved cause in particular experience, this with a friend of mine's rescue place for stray animals

Well here , they are not really " stray " you get to know virtually every Soi dog in your village , I feed them sometimes , but they are all well fed , hanging around markets and the like , there is a Farang lady that dedicated her life to the ones hit by cars and the like , but the smart ones know their area well , they avoid accidents.

Yes, I've always had strays and cast offs.
I am down to one kitty now, the others have all passed, and I found her at the firehouse, she was probably 6ish weeks old, long hair Callico full of burrs.
I followed her and she went into the station we tracked her down and for some odd reason had a can of cat food so I gave her that and it took about 45 minutes to cut all of the burrs out of her.
That was 12 years ago.
I've had them come in a box, all sorts of them have graced my life.

It depends. I used to live close to this home that had a dog that would wander off. Since I knew the dog, and was friends with the owner, I would bring the dog home if I saw him wandering
