So…. I’m going to ask, not with animosity, but genuine curiosity…. I assume you’re one of the “free speech” enthusiasts who resents this idea that you can’t freely say things that I would probably consider “hateful”, but you would probably argue are “truthful.” Without getting into what either of us thinks of that…. what is your endgame? Like what do you think this will accomplish, you saying whatever it is you think? I’m talking functionally, not just personal satisfaction. I was just reading another question about police shooting rates vs black folks…. a lot of people seem to champion this idea that black people commit a disproportionate amount of crime and apparently “deserve” to be shot for committing crimes. So let’s say for the sake of this argument that that was true…. by bluntly saying it, what do you believe will be, or desire to be, the end result? Like how would that solve the black crime problem you’re perceiving, by just being able to say “well, these black people commit a ton of crime.” Do you think that will lower the black crime rate somehow? Or is it just about saying what you want and no one else being able to give you shit for it? Just genuinely curious what the underlying mentality is.

@Agagagagaga Nah, man, I’m on the level. Do I have animosity in general for that kind of attitude? Yes. But I’m shelving it for this question in an attempt to better understand people. I don’t think I’ll come out of it like “whoa, turns out that guy is right”, but I’m trying not to approach it with usual vitriol we see from people these days, especially on the internet.

My endgame? Well…. first, I’m not a leftist, I’d actually describe myself as a naturalist/anarchist. I live with two dueling realities: the realities of nature and earth that seem blatantly apparent to me vs the realities of the fabricated false-reality of the society we know today. I don’t really view society as we know it as naturally valid, I see everything after small tribal life as a folly. We don’t even need to argue about that though, because regardless, the artificial reality we live in is what it is and isn’t going anywhere, no matter what I think of it.

So, within the context of our artificial reality, I think it simply requires people to not be judgmental of others and accepting of behaviors different from our own. It’s not about numbers or quotas or any of that, those only get created as a result of the failure of others to not abide by the aforementioned code of being accepting and non-judgemental. Ideally, there’s no need for any of that stuff because everyone would be treated the same. And I guess I just have a hard time understanding why people can’t manage that, and moreover, it seems like there’s very often not any sort of suggested solution to a perceived problem, it’s just for the sake of doing it.

Ok, so…. are you sure you’re not misconceiving what all this stuff is about? I’m not sure what you think is an “outright lie” in particular, but as an example, my dad watches a ton of FoxNews, particularly Tucker Carlson, and when I hear him talk about what he believes the whole “woke” thing to be, I’m just flabbergasted because he’s apparently just completely missed the point, or at least pretends to for his audience. In my opinion, it’s badly mischaracterized in right wing circles like it’s an assault on being white, and that’s just simply not the case. I feel like many white folks are just averse to having uncomfortable conversations and take everything as a personal accusation, and again, that’s not what this is all about. It’s about having understanding and compassion for other people. I understand there will be people who go too far with it and take it to extremes that miss the mark in their own right, but I really think if everyone took a deep breath and stopped yelling at each other or being unnecessarily defensive of closed-minded, we’d actually make progress towards getting where we want to be. But please don’t believe the hype that there’s an assault on whiteness, I look like an Aryan Nation poster boy, lmao, but I don’t feel under attack in anyway. I’m being asked to be empathetic and understanding that, although we all have struggles, the nature of some people are inherently compounded because of what they look like. It’s a very complex and nuanced issue, it’s hard to describe in just a few sentences, but I’m just saying that if you think there’s some concerted effort to stand on white people’s necks, you’re getting faulty information.

The US population is 13% black and 75% white. The NBA is 74% black and 24% white. It is only about 0.1% Japanese or Filipino. Is anyone calling for more inclusion in the NBA? No! It’s a meritocracy and sometimes on group has a disproportionate share of the talent.

I went to a B. B. King concert and didn’t complain that all the musicians were black. A former Atlanta mayor went to an Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concert and did complain that all or nearly all of the musicians were white. It was revealed the next day that the ASO, and many other symphony orchestras held blind auditions. The musicians audition sitting behind a screen where those judging them can’t see them and know nothing about them.

In Hawaii, about 90% of bar room bouncers are Samoan or Tongan. They tend to be BMFs and well suited to the job.

If the best qualified applicants are white men, white men should get the jobs.

It’s already happening in a sense with the great resignation. What I find hilarious is some of the minorities and women being thrust into leadership positions are hated even more by the other minorities and women. Mainly because it wasn’t them that was promoted. It is so deliciously fucked up.

I think women and minorities have a pathological need for white men to lead. The need someone else to blame. They step in to fill their shoes and come to find out that it sucks, and that white men were actually telling the truth all along.

I had to hire people for my department. I was told by the HR director that if i had a qualified minority candidate I had to hire him. I told him that I would hire the best person for the job and I didn't gave a crap what color they were. That was as honest as I get.
