I'm sure it's a combination of both. The raid was based upon FBI allegations that Trump was illegally holding White House documents in his private home, and they were able to retrieve 15 boxes of documents, or some such number. It's certainly possible that the FBI had genuine cause for their raid. The timing is pretty ideal for the democrats too though.

I find it amusing that Hillary Clinton did the exact same thing, and even destroyed documents that were subpoenaed by the DOJ. Nothing happens to her.
