What's the point of being successful in life if we all eventually die?

Look at Kobe Bryant, the millionaire world-famous basketball player. Many people would argue that he was successful. But now he's dead, and all of it doesn't matter. All the basketball games he helped to win, his money, fame -- he can't enjoy any of it now. How different would it be if he had lived a mediocre life? Not much.

This is where a person's belief system comes into play. It's our belief system and attitude that determine what life is about.

I've read all of Eckhart Tolle's books and I'm bought and sold on what he teaches. The purpose in life is to develop a meditative and mindful lifestyle. By doing so, our consciousness grows and so does the general consciousness.

What does a "meditative and mindful lifestyle" mean?

In it's simplest term, being mindful is being aware and noticing things without the internal chatter. If I'm walking down the street, I can feel the breeze, I can see and hear the birds, I notice the trees, etc., without the internal chatter. It's the belief that being mindful will bring about internal peace. It will make our consciousness grow. It will help the general consciousness grow. I would recommend reading one of Eckhart Tolle's books. Have you ever heard of him?

This is a quote from Eckhart Tolle:
"“Do I want the present moment to be my friend or my enemy?" ... Become friendly toward it, welcome it no matter in what disguise it comes, and soon you will see the results. Life becomes friendly toward you; people become helpful, circumstances cooperative... But that one decision you have to make again and again and again - until it becomes natural to live in such a way.”

I keep a notebook and make notes of the subtle changes that have taken place in my life since I began living a meditative and mindful lifestyle.

To just enjoy what you have, like trust me, I wish I were never born, because when you think about life, it sounds like it's not worth it - please nobody resort to self harming, because I'm not encouraging suicide, talk to someone or get help.

I left religion years ago, because it doesn't give me a peace of mind and makes things worse when I think about the above.

Ultimately, we're here, whether we like it or not, so make the most of it.

Well he set his family up for life that’s for sure. I’m sure they’d trade all that money to have him back but that isn’t an option. No one knows when they’re going to die. But I’d rather try to be successful being able to take care of my family even if I died at an early age then to live to be 100 w nothing in life to make it better.

You kind of made your own point. Kobe Bryant's name will live on long after his death simply because of the joy his life brought to so many people. Yes we all die, however it is your responsibility to make the dash in the middle stand for something.
