What's the point of being successful in life if we all eventually die?

Look at Kobe Bryant, the millionaire world-famous basketball player. Many people would argue that he was successful. But now he's dead, and all of it doesn't matter. All the basketball games he helped to win, his money, fame -- he can't enjoy any of it now. How different would it be if he had lived a mediocre life? Not much.
