He actually doesn't hate women at all. He's done a tremendous amount to help victims of domestic abuse, and that sort of thing; he just words his ideas really harshly.
The impression I've gotten from reviewing his longer-form content is that he's basically a well-intentioned person who has lived an extremely rough life, and has developed a certain contempt for western society because he's seen how quickly our ideas about equality fall apart when things get tough.
I can definitely see where he would rub western empowered women the wrong way, but he's really not a bad guy.
