Second question:
A recent report shows that in 40% American families with children women are primary earners yet they continue to earn less than men what does this say about society?

I think they aren't thinking before they talk.
That's why they aren't making any sense to us nor themselves. You can tell they know they aren't making any sense. They aren't that dumb. I refuse to believe that. I've never met anyone that dumb. You have to think before you talk and if you don't know then you have to refrain from speaking or speak on the little you do know. Many people do that on GAG. 99% of the comments on GAG are under developed opinions and if you have a well developed opinion, everyone will appear dumb. Developed meaning backed up by sources and not just a belief.
I love Miss South Carolina! I totally would've married her! :D
Why? she's not smart? But she's hot
She's hot and she seemed really sweet. I could totally overlook her crazy answer with all her positive attributes!
Im guessing you are American
Why is that?
Lol. Attitude > smarts anyday of the week
@242plusInfinity I’d go for the nice, sweet air head over an intelligent stuck up bitch, any day! Being hot doesn’t hurt.
Thanks for most helpful. So why do you think I'm American?
I was joking. I don't know are you really American?
LOL! It's cool. I am though! I was just wondering how you knew! :P
Intuition.
Well played! What do you think of these chicks by the way? Do you have a favorite?
Lmao I dont really have a favorite but look they recreat their answers and it still fail lmao.

1. Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can't locate the US on a map why do you think this is?
A: Many people don't focus on geography as a passion. There are many topics out there for study such as mathematics, biology, chemistry, history, languages, lore, herbology, dendrology, statistics, electronics, robotics, musical instruments, musical theory, game theory, computing, programming (with dozens of languages and subsets), physiology, medicine, &c, &c, you get the idea. The point I am making is that there is literally so much information in the world we can't expect everyone to know everything.

There are certainly lazy people and limits on education as well, but I've been all over this planet and I will say it's not just Americans who can't point out where they live on a world map.
2. A recent report shows that in 40% American families with children women are primary earners yet they continue to earn less than men what does this say about society?
A: There are several factors to this. The easiest and most obvious answer is we are in a patriarchal society where men are valued more and have dominated the majority of high-earning industries for a long time. Some other factors: In many industries salary is negotiated, and men are more direct and aggressive negotiators than women. Women who are primary earners may not be in the same top-earning industries (for example, women choose hospitality, caregiving, housekeeping, etc...) and therefore earn less because of the job that they choose rather than earning less at the same job (though this does also happen, see point #1 about salary negotiation). There is a report here that includes other factors such as women voluntarily dropping out of the labor pool for a portion of their wage-earning time for things such as childbearing and rearing, as well as caregiving professions typically earning less, which affects women disproportionately.
FIRST:
It's because certain people in our government are really failing out youth when it comes to education and we really need to put a heavier emphasis on better education for all Americans so we don't lose out our edge over countries like Japan, South Korea, and The Philippines, which not only have a higher standard of education over us, but are multi-lingual, tech educated, and ready to dominate the global market as soon as they enter adulthood.
A powerful nation can't remain a powerful nation when they're unable to even locate their allies on a map, so we need to focus on better education for every American, regardless of socioeconomic status and make it one of our top priorities. Thank you.
SECOND:
I think that study might be a misnomer or inaccurate, as it takes several different data points and puts them together, creating the illusion of causation, when there likely is none there.
Regarding the first point of women being the primary earners in American homes, I think that has more to do with society as a whole, where we have too many people putting an emphasis on sex before relationships, resulting in too many unexpected pregnancies and too many single mothers, or mothers who out-earn their male partners. If we put more emphasis on building love and relationships over sex and one night stands, then the problem solves itself, as good men WILL step up to be good fathers when the time is ready and they are given enough time and reason to.
Regarding the second point... The Wage Gap isn't a real thing and women earn less than men due to personal lifestyle choices and prioritizing their leisure time over work and promotions, something men do more often DUE to having families to support and being the breadwinner. So nothing is needed to "correct" there. But yes, having strong relationships and putting love before sex, fixes most of these problems in the long term. Thank you.
Host:
Good answers and all. But you're too short and ugly to even be at this beauty pageant, ma'am. How did you even get in here?
Me:
I drugged one of the other contestants and took her spot. What's it to you, pencilneck?
Host:
Security!
Me:
I already won this thing, anyway. Peace, losers! ✌
I think the average American incompetent. The first statement is sadly about what I expect. I live in the US and work as an internal Help Desk agent. I would say more than a fifth of the people I help can't read and understand basic instructions, so it doesn't surprise me that they can't read maps. I don't thinm that statistic is representative of the entire country though. There are places that have very good public education. I just dont live in one of those places. That's not to say it's the government's fault that these people are stupid. You can't fix stupid, you can just mask it.
As for the second point, I think it ties in to the first. I think thr numbers are thrown off by the outliers at the very top %s of earners. If we're talking about our hourly and office workers, I don't think anyone makes that much money. All of our wages suck, so there's not that much of a gap. But the high earners are typically men who have been in high earning positions for decades. I would say that's pretty fucked. We need to get old people out of higher paying jobs and let those fuckers retire, but thats a whole other issue.
I'm calling bullshit on this one. 1 in 5 is way too high a figure to believe. Fair enough you've a few loonies who think the world's flat but I can't believe given Americas size there's that many people who can't point to it on a map, even a small child can do that.
If women have the same education, same seniority and same job as a man, their wages are nearly identical. At one previous job, most of the overtime shifts were picked up voluntarily by a man. I was one of the top two out of a work group of sixty in the amount of overtime I worked on spite of having a second job.
Does it say something negative about society that I worked 70 hour weeks and made more than my female coworkers working 40?
Nah it must be that women are paid less then men are. (Sarcasm)
@RiseofArtemis maybe this stat needs to be adjusted for inflation, but 25 years ago, I read that if a woman makes $200,000 per year, there’s a 96% chance her husband works. (I’d bet some of that 4% are retired.) If a man makes $200,000 per year, there’s a 13% chance his wife works.
1 - Education and culture. Americans rarely look outside their borders because they technically have everything. No need to look at what's happening in Russia, Japan, Korea, China, Australia.
2 - Watch Bill Burr. While it's not 100% correct, he does make good points.
The first question is because public schools are failing. There is no incentive to get better and the union is indoctiateing our kids. The parents should be able to take the tax money that would be spent per student and use it for private school. Competition is healthy.
Question 2 is easy. It's because they become single mothers, so they have to work a job AND take care of their kids. By themselves. So, since their children are human beings and their own offspring, they are automatically a priority. So they are always going to have something outside of work that is competing with work. That's why they are more likely to accept a crappier job with less pay. Because they don't have any bargaining power.
"Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can't locate the US on a map why do you think this is?"
Public schools.
"A recent report shows that in 40% American families with children women are primary earners yet they continue to earn less than men what does this say about society?"
Nothing. It says that women in general either choose less lucrative careers and/or work fewer hours and/or are not as good at negotiating.
First question:
This is because education has been undervalued and underfunded for years, EVERYWHERE!
Second question:
This is because fiscal responsibility for one's children
has been denigrated and vilified. You make'm? You pay! PERIOD.
I work at a facility with about 500 employees from 38 different countries. It's downright embarrassing how poor the US education system is compared to the rest of the world.
I used to work at the Atlanta airport. Not only do students from almost any first world nation understand math and science better than we do, Germans Dutch, Swedes and many other Europeans speak English better than we do! Germans study American history and know it better than we do.
1. Sounds like bullshit, but you can browse google maps for free.
2. Women should work harder if they want more money.
1) Schools are too busy indoctrinating to teach
2) Where did you dig up that bullshit statistic? Are you still buying the 'wage gap' nonsense in 2022?
American schools are more focussed on shooter drills then educating.
Welcome to the real world
Such as maps...
Sounds about right.
Shit for brains. Sad.
Na. They clearly have not learned it. Obviously they can learn it. It's not rocket science.
I misread the post lol. I get your comment now. Still there are not dumb. They just messed up under the pressure. Weren't trained for the moment. No one is that dumb man C'mon. Unlike they have a condition
Unless*
Lol you really think so? I've never met any common folk that dumb. It's hard for me to believe it.
Sounds right
