If you saw someone getting sucker punched by some guy for absolutely no reason, what would you do?

Just asking because I just watched some videos, there's like elderly Asian people getting sucker punched for no reason. The assailant walks away as if nothing happened, or they're laughing at the victim. Bystanders didn't really do anything to help in the videos.

I'll tackle the assailant and try to subdue him.

I don't want to risk my life, but I'll call 911 for the victim though.

I won't subdue the assailant, call 911, or assist the victim, I'm going to be all up in the assailant's face to record him while being rowdy.

Depends on the situation, I suppose. My instinct would probably be to go after the guy, but it’s also not my pig, not my farm. I saw a kid get KO’d in front of the bar I worked at in my 20s and early 30s, two dudes walked up and one just snuffed him and then kicked him in the face a few times, and very casually walked away and yelled something at him, I think he said “Up to no good!” I was up on the balcony and yelled out “Whoa, whoa, whoa!!!” when they started kicking him while he was out, and they started walking away at that point. I had no idea what was going on, I later heard a rumor that the kid had hit one of those dudes’ sisters or something, so if that’s the case, that’s all fair. But I just don’t know either way, so I’m staying out of it.

So I just walked down and tried to revive the kid, someone else called 911. When he regained consciousness I told him cops were on the way so if he had anything on him, I’d take it and stash it for him. I’d hate to get arrested all because I got knocked out with contraband in my pockets, lmao. I don’t want to see anyone go out like that. Anyway, the ambulance got there, he got taken away, the cops asked a few questions, but again, I don’t really know the situation, so I don’t talk to police in scenarios like that.

If was an elderly person? Maybe more likely to go after the assailant, but again, I’m not so concerned that someone is walking around punching people as much as I am with the simple fact that someone already HAS been punched. So I would probably be inclined to check on the KO’d person, the puncher May walk off and never punch someone again, maybe they will, but either way, it’s not my job to play Superman and rid the streets of evil-doers, that’s fantasy world bullshit. Just deal with the reality of there being an injured person and see to it that they’re taken care of. Bad things are always going to happen in life, we’re dreaming if we think we can effectively control that, so I can’t even get into playing Whack-a-Mole with the abundance of shitty people life on Earth has to offer.

It always seems to be people who are _________ complexion of the ________ culture, a subset of which are very traumatized people. With lack of parenting and discipline at home and school and society... after committing crimes that have no consequences, they are hazardous. You gotta be careful dealing with such people. you get into a conflict and defend yourself, killing the assailant... guess what! That's what they want! they want to be famous, to die famous and collect lots of money (if injured). that's the game.

That said, I've been in areas where this happens and have yet to see it. Most _________ people I deal with area perfectly fine. Haven't had a problem, but there are some that are acting out, stressout out. I think the young ones are most dangerous.

Asian people are very mellow... they were pounded into submission by Chairman Mao and have often strict discipline in families and decent diets. They generally don't fight back or assault people... although you've got your crazy ones in every culture.

I've seen those videos before. They do it to get famous online, and/or because they're legitimately off their meds and have psychological problems. Usually the former reason, though.

Closest one for me is Option A: Use it as an excuse to beat the shit out of someone justifiably (outside of kickboxing class), when 99.9% of the time, that'd be illegal and morally wrong. Yeah, this is me being as brutally honest as possible: I'd fuck that guy up six ways from Sunday. Well beyond "reasonable force." When else would I get a chance to?

There's not the option to assist the victim first, which is what I would do while calling emergency services and applying first aid. While I'd hate letting the criminal scum getting away, immediate assistance to assault victim would be my priority.

The idiot that attacked can be always be catched later, but for the victim even a split second can make a difference.

This happened when I was on a train. I presented my company, (not rail) id, told him I was a company official, marched him back to his seat and told him not to move. I then used the emergency intercom to alert the driver who then arranged for the police to meet the train. We stopped on the middle of aa viaduct to allow the police time to attend at the next station where they arrested the assailant. As with all cowards, once I stood up to him he backed down.

Just cause he got suckered punched doesn't mean he didn't have it coming. I guess there's a difference between a guy suckered punching a guy then standing over him talking yang or just walking away. And a guy getting suckered punched and beaten to a pulp. The second I'd call the police. I might even call the police with the first one.
