How do you feel about Queen Elisabeth II death at 96?

sad she was a sweet lady from everything I’ve heard or seen her do, she was an inspiring women not only to the people she ruled but those around the world as well. I remember hearing a story when I took British history about how she got married in a second had wedding dress because Britain was going through Asteria measures of the time and even though she was a monarch and becoming the queen of England even if she took a sacrifice and not getting a brand new expensive dress but getting married in a old secondhand dress she was a very honorable woman in my opinion and no American woman whatever match the queens inspiring life dedication to her people and duty to her work.

While it may be somewhat unusual, I am an American who has a deep appreciation for the merits and benefits of democratic constitutional monarchy. Not for my own country, certainly. The USA lacks the socio-political culture that would make such a system work. However, any reading of history will show the benefits of democratic constitutional monarchy in that it places the state outside politics and therefore conduces to cultural moderation and a degree of temperance and appreciation for tradition that republics tend to lack.

In that context, it must be said, Queen Elizabeth II was Exhibit A in the case for monarchy. She exhibited a degree of restraint and an appreciation for tradition that often acted as a ballast for her country in turbulent times.

She was a steadying hand and a unifying force. As Britain went from the stability of the 1950s through the "Swinging 60s" and the era that marked the end of empire and then on to the galloping inflation of the 1970s and subsequent economic contraction, British politics swung back and forth. However, in the midst of all that remained the Queen. A rock in a sea of tumult.

As Walter Bagehot put it, it was the job of the monarch to "advise, guide and warn" the Prime Minister of the day. This she did, but always discreetly and diplomatically.

Yet Queen Elizabeth had a way of making her views known. When the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia visited the Queen at Balmoral, it was something of an issue in the UK that Saudi Arabia prohibits women from driving. So when the Crown Prince arrived, he got in a car to tour Balmoral. The Queen got in the driver's seat and proceeded to race around the estate.

The Crown Prince kept asking the translator - he did not speak English and obviously the Queen did not speak Arabic - to ask the Queen to slow down. Reportedly, the Queen pretended not to understand and kept driving. Point made!!

The Queen also, the dignity of her office notwithstanding, had a sense of humor. She famously staged a tea with Paddington Bear. She also played out a scene with Daniel Craig - the actor who plays James Bond.

Beyond that, the Queen was a friend to the United States. Meeting 14 US Presidents and, perhaps most famously, ordering the playing of the American national anthem at Buckingham Palace after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Suffice to say, there is more to be said, but space does not permit. However, suffice to say, as the old saw has it, "we will not see her like again." Her stoicism, her dedication to duty, her love of country and her deep faith. These things made Queen Elizabeth II the "rock on which modern Britain was built." HM Queen Elizabeth II will be deeply missed.

Not British so... but I think how lucky Prince Philip was when he was 20 and started dating his 13 year old cousin Queen Elizabeth. He must have thought he'd hit the jackpot when he married her because not only was she thin, pretty with a real heavy set of milkers but she was also one of the wealthiest most powerful people on the planet with a fabulous lifestyle that involved super mansions, private aircraft, yachts, military rank, money, any car he wants, meeting celebrities and all he had to do for any of it was have plenty of sex with her and produce a few babies.

96 is a good age. Not lots of people make it to 96. It's probably sad to loose the queen 👸 and probably also gives the people of the country a little anxiety, they'll think "what new laws will the new rules make" or "will the next one take more taxes" etc. Etc. But it'll probably be the same whoever is queen

I think it's sad. As an American I can't fathom the thought of someone having a title like that for so long. I notice a lot of American's mocking their system which has worked well for them. Other countries should be allowed to run their country how they feel. Anyway, she never seemed like she interfered with either the conservatives or liberals, so she did a good job remaining neutral. Also being a strong female presence for so long is something quite rare. I know a lot of people probably feel like they lost a mother or grandmother so RIP.

Oh wow, I am deeply saddened although not surprised. Her Majesty was an amazing woman and quite an example for us all. I know those in the UK must be having deep sorry and please know many Americans stand with you in your grief.

Right she been queen since 1952 most people who are still alive today has seen nothing but her as the queen my mom is 73 so and a child when the king died George the VI died. She probably was 3 since she was born in December
