So the news is that most immigrants will vote for trump  Is this true?

When I worked in a sociology department in the Netherlands, where many were political sociologists, they pointed out how many immigrants when they became citizens voted for far-right anti-immigration parties.

This happens to the first generation, not to the second or third. In the past, it could have happened to subsequent generations.

It is likely that a large share of ex-immigrants vote Republican, because the Democratic Party defends immigrants, not ex-immigrants who have become citizens who lose the support of the party got citizenship.

This is a problem that is found in all Western countries. Left-wing parties support immigrants even when they swoon because they are "poor immigrants", a sort of generalized Red Cross nurse syndrome. Except then become ruthless when these are no longer immigrants. The honest and hard-working immigrant sees himself every day compared to the criminal immigrant and despises those who defend criminal immigrants who feed bad stereotypes for which the honest immigrant has to pay the price. Therefore, when he becomes a citizen, he votes the party opposite to the one that defended immigrants.

I can’t imagine why someone would go to all the expense risk and difficulty of coming here for a different life and then vote for the train wreck they just left. Of course it happens, but it is highly counterintuitive. My grandfather on my mothers side has voted Republican since he was old enough to vote, after his parents fled Berlin from the Nazis in ‘39. My experience with immigrants irl has generally been positive: many speak better English and have a stronger work ethic than quite a few birth citizens I’ve encountered in my travels. I can honestly only think of one man who was an immigrant that I didn’t get along with, and you’re never going to get along with everybody. It had nothing to do with him being an immigrant and everything to do with he just was a difficult person. Difficult people exist everywhere on earth.

So my opinion is that I do not know, I think he Republicanism will be making a mistake if they can't come up with someone other than Trump. At the same time if you are legal immigrant or your family has legally immigrated and gone through the process... then yes I would be against illegal immigration, and I would want someone to play a stronger hand in enforcing the laws as they are written. This country is governed by laws, not on ideological principals alone, so either change the laws or enforce the ones we have.

Apparently, Democrat open border policy is something most LEGAL immigrants are pissed about. Toss in the plan for amnesty (because Democrats left the southern gate wide open), and that pisses them off even more!

They followed US immigration laws. They became American citizens LEGALLY. It took them a LONG time and a fair amount of paperwork to meet our immigration laws. Then the Democrats want to short-circuit that system just to get votes? Even those legal immigrants see the stupidity in that idea!

As for voting... ANY illegal aliens voting is automatically voter fraud! And guess which party is wanting that? It ain't the GOP.

I am not an immigrant nor an American and as an outsider I dont really wanna patronise about someone elses countries internal politics but from what I seen on news and media regarding American politics I feel like If I was born as an American , I would vote for trump. I dont have a plan to do so but If I move to US one day , I will most likely end up as a trump supporter.

Possibly, because politics generally is about much more than immigration, and people from other Countries are generally more Conservative minded regarding broader politics.

Immigration needs to be controlled in every Country globally, failure to do so upsets integration and this leads to major long-term issues. Left wing campaigners often ignore the integration side of things and purely focus on getting people in.

No, but if the GOP could get their heads out of their derrieres they could get a lot more votes from what should be a natural base for them - those who are very (Christian) religious. But never underestimate the ability of the Republicans to fumble away a win.

Lol probably. A lot of immigrants from Mexico and areas around revolve to the conservative way of thinking, even tho the conservatives are the ones trying to drive them back to Mexico. It’s counterproductive for them but whatever. Doesn’t faze me… other races that are immigrants don’t tend to vote that way, like Haitians, PR, etc… most of the ones I’ve had conversations with, don’t care
