Why would the government hide centuries of evidence of UFO's and alien encounters and still keep it locked away from society?

There's been first hand encounters by so many from military people and astronaughts and even everyday people what does the government not want society and general public knowing about what's really going on that they increasingly want to hide them and classify them

People need to realize that all these evidence of UFO is not actually proof of aliens. Its just strange phenomena we can't explain which is not even particularly strange since we expect to find rare phenomena that we through bad luck are unable to capture enough information about to find out what it actually is.

The reason the government is hiding it is different however. First of all, they dont know what it is but someone else MIGHT.. such as a foreign power.. that could for example have developed a new stealth plane or some nonsense like that that USA accidentally got a faint reading on. Telling a foreign power that you can see them is really bad. Telling a foreign power that you can see something, (which happens to be them), but that you dont know what it is happens to be worse on a whole new lever.

But that is just a small detail really. The real reason many of these are secret is because they are captured through military sensor equipment. Things like fighter plane cameras or equipment is a good example. It is a really bad for USA if Russia figures out exactly how good the camera on an American spy satellite are or how good the sensor of Americas best planes are. It allows them to manipulate you and develop counters.

So yeah. Its perfectly normal for the government to keep UFO sightings secret even if the UFO itself might not even be very interesting because it could expose their own instruments, tactics, whatever.

People are either working with them on secret projects or the extraterrestrials just don’t want to be exposed 🤷‍♂️
