Does anyone here remember the 2009 Iranian protests and if so, do you see any comparisons between them and what's going on now?

I remember those protests vividly but the crackdowns this time around seem way more brutal. After one prominent Iranian was killed (Neda Soltan) her name was remembered for a long time.

But now it seems like the names of the martyrs are much more "ephemeral". Not because people forget faster now but because one person is killed after another by Iranian security forces.

And a lot of the footage was pretty pixelated because it was recorded on flip phone cameras but now, I can't tell if footage was filmed on someone's smart phone or by reporters from a news source.

Also, another difference is that back then it was mostly college students who were protesting but now High School girls are joining the fray (and getting gunned down).

Anyway, jian, jiyan, azadi!!!
