What do you think of the Iranian history?

I am aware of the Persian Empire but I don't know a lot of specifics about it. I'm not impressed with Iran's current history. The successful, modern state that was derailed in 1979 with this Islamic Revolution and the religious leaders have been trying to end Israel ever since to fulfill prophecy, they start Hezbollah, Hamas, the Yemen terrorists and they've caused war in the middle east for 40 years. I wish the religious leaders would be taken out and it could get back to the trajectory it was on in 1978.
It is quite impressive... and complicated which makes it more difficult to appreciate. At least it does for me. DrPepper mentioned Achaemenid, Seluccid, Parthians, as well as Persians and Darius and Cyrus. He is right it being crazy under recognized.
For me the problem in appreciation is that it is crazy complicated in coming to terms with it.

Persians Don't get enough credit FOR ANYTHING!! the Achaemenid, Selecuid, Parthian, Sassinid contributed more to world history than will ever be recognized by the masses. Cyrus & especially Darius are crazy underrated.
I consider Iran one of the great nations in history even though it is overlooked in the west.
was great in ancient times
But after Islam, there is almost no state established by the Persian dynasties.
It's - well - ... history :D
Doesn't even cross my mind. It's irrelevant
I never thought about it
