Do you think people know about the causes they support (blue hair for Autism Awareness, ALS ice bucket challenge, etc.)?

A few years ago it was in vogue to die all or part of your hair blue to support Autism Awareness. How many people who did it actually knew what they were supporting? Same with the ALS ice bucket challenge. It seems most people just claim they're doing their part with no idea what it actually is.
